Whats the current solo meta?

Hello, I just bought the game and like playing solo. Is there a current meta build for solo players? I am level 21 and using an axe and shield, but keep getting slaughtered by enemies my level. I saw that people used to play a bile wizard, but it sounds like that got nerfed.

I like archer in early game, because you get the stamina you need. Later that can come from gear or food, and mage becomes better. I'm not a fan of melee in any game, so it's my least favorite.

all of them are quite viable, I'm soloing with two-handed melee right now no problem but I guess like always ranged builds are easier to use

I've been playing battlemage (wand+shield) since the game launch, and it works fine for me. I managed to clear all the new dungeons with it. Don't need to worry about mana/ammunition. Plus, it's a pretty unusual combination in RPG games.

This was actually the only way I could defeat those reapers. The shield was required to block those flying sickles and wand was fast enough to attack. Otherwise they basically shredded my health like butter.

This is an SP/Coop game just play as you want. If you use whatever cheese build there is you will just ruin the game for yourself - it s not like the game is hard.


If something still is to hard try to get better gear. Depending on how you want to play you either have to make yourself tanky or fast - but stamina is always important and you should also constantly use buffs.


Also why do you get slaughered?
- running out of stamina?
- does your char not tank enough? -> how do you play?
- having trouble blocking?
- is your gear up to your level and upgraded?
- do you youse all the buffs?
- are you maybe triggering too big groups?
- only problems with specific enemies? (for example that green guys?)

Were you talking in a mirror? Have you even tried the wand and shield. It cake walks the entire content.

I can't play how I want. The game forces me to use more ranged combat. I can't beat the flying enemies with my preferred build. To do any real damage without spending 200 arrows, I need to put a bunch of points into my bow skills.

When it comes to the mele enemies, I can take them out no problem. The big problem is that the ones that don't get close enough for a wand or my axe require a bow.

You can compensate a lot with a high level bow/wand. I havent spent a single point in those things yet still can do enough dmg in the game.

But yes its a bit of a problem that flying enemies are almost impossible to hit with for example sword and shield.

To be honest - from my point of view - the quality of the weapon+upgrades and ammo seems to be more important than player level and picked skills. Are your ranged weapons good when compared to your player level and the enemy level?

Never had an issue as sword and shield or 2h mace as melee for flying mobs. They're more annoying but die quickly.

Use terrain or here's the real secret. Learn to parry.
