Is it worth to play now with a bow?
Is it viable play the game with bows now?, or the ranged combat still has issues?

My cousin and I play Co-Op and he uses a bow as a primary. It seems to do really well while I tank. He just gets behind them and takes them out while I hold their aggro. I am unsure if going that route alone is the best idea since there always seems to be some close contact. In any case. He plays it well and does a lot of damage.

Anyone who uses ranged attacks will find the game easier. Because you're not close to the action and don't have to worry as much as the melee fighters.

But grinding arrows is boring...

Ranged combat is fine but the grind to get materials for the arrows is really the downside of choosing this playstyle.

Thanks for the replies, people. I can see a general image about the game now. I'll think about buying it in a future, maybe with a discount. I'm not a friend of the excessive grinding in games.

I would say it is very difficult to play Enshrouded without a bow, even if it isn't your primary build. The flying wraiths are just one example of the necessity of bows. I actually enjoy how Enshrouded seems to be built on mix-n-match character builds from investing skill points into more than one build to mixing weapon and armor types.
My first play-through I tried to stick mostly with hunter adding in some beastmaster. My current play-through I'm adding in a little barbarian and warrior.

I have never tried it myself but I recently watched a video of someone who made a only bow challenge and it does seem to be fun. I might try it as well at some point.

This is the video I was referring to:

I made a new character and I am going the ranger line and only using a bow because my last run with a melee character was too easy and I found a lot of very nice bows. As far as the mobs getting close I have found head shots drop even bosses really fast. I killed that boss in the first well at level 2 with no armor and no food buffs.

I had an epic bow that I had enhanced to max and that first boss went down fast. All I did was head shots and as soon as he got in melee range I just rolled out of the way and did a few head shots from behind for massive damage. The trick is just learn to time your rolls and after every big attack he pauses for a moment which is enough to get 2 shots on him then roll away again and just repeat.

Took him down without getting hit and while exploring the rest of the well I found a legendary bow that I enhanced 4 times to max and now regular mobs die in 1 head shot. If you get the timing down bows are very powerful. I now have a full set of scout armor and I am several rows into the ranger line and mobs are dropping fast. I would not be surprised if bows get nerfed because with wooden arrows I was clearing out mobs easily and now with scrap arrows some of the damage is pretty OP for my current low level.

I have noticed a lot more scrap metal dropping from breaking containers and mobs are dropping a lot more scrap arrows so keeping a good supply of arrows so far is easy. I made my first well run breaking everything and came out with almost 100 scrap metal then ran it again after it all respawned and got over 100 scrap that run so scrap drop rate went way up.

I am going to see how far I can go using no melee or spells and bow only.

I find the Bow to be extremely useful. I use it to lure an enemy out and then fight them one on one. I use it to get some hit points on an enemy before they get to me. I will also find a high spot to shot from (sniper mode - LOL) and thin out the enemy before going in and clearing the rest of the area. I've taken out 2 Bosses this way. Sometimes, gathering materials can be a chore, but it's usually not a big problem. My skill points go between the Ranger and Tank.

I'm soloing with a bow, and just use melee to compliment my attacks/finish them off if they happen to get close. I only have occasional trouble with the dual-wielding green sword guys cause holy crap they're way too fast. By occasional trouble I don't mean they kill me, just that I have to have more patience, run around more, and melee more against them

So far no trouble with bosses but have really only faced that first major one at pikes-whatever . The mini bosses in certain places are no trouble

Imagine taking a Ranger into the Hollowed Dungeon, youll need hundreds of arrows, then make hundreds more before and after, lots of fun...NOT

They did fix the materials issue so that grinding more advanced arrows is way less painful. Feathers are more plentiful, and twigs can be grown in large quantities. It's only really grindy now if you want special arrows. I would recommend any archer take a backup melee weapon, regardless. If something gets in your face, it's often easier to melee than reposition.
