Very interested - Was the multiplayer issue ever fixed?.
Me and quiet a few friends are interested in this game because we play
co-op's together a lot, and what's especially interesting about this game
is the high number of players allowed in co-op, which would allow for
"the whole gang" to get together .

HOWEVER , i watched a review of the game which brought up something
more or less gamebreaking, which was issues with the multiplayer and quests,
that left players unable to either receive quest-rewards or quest drops
while in multiplayer.

So... my question is. Has these issues been fixed now or are they
on the to-do list ?.

You share the Flame Alter Cap (How many bases you can build), and some major quest progress with the Host, as well as the fast travel spots. The best way to play is everyone hosts their own world and you join each other to progress quests/locations. Even if youre miles ahead of a friend its still beneficial to join their world for low level resource runs and such.

If your “miles ahead of a friend”, it’s going to be extremely boring for you to do anything in their world. Treat multiplayer in this game, like a DND session. Put aside a time for all your friends to be online and play at the same time to maximize your fun.

I am hosting on my pc for my wife and me. In 80 hours we had to restart the game due to severe lag accompanied by the message "Server Overload" that seems to be unrelated to my systems ressources. I got that message and heavy lag while the CPU is at 40%, the Ram is at 50% and everything else is just fine.

I read that even dedicated servers can run in these problems and that they need to work on their server code.

If you want to play on a big server may sure you don't just take the cheapest provider, but someone who is aware of this and allocates ressources accordingly.

Right now there is shared quest progression, but they are working on that so you might want to wait a patch or two.

Besides of that my wife and me have a blast in multiplayer. Tank / Nuke-Healer gameplay is really fun and works well, you really feel the advantage of teamplay and filling out a different role in combat.

Right now you can only play FULL coop, so you can't build a base that only you can access and as far as I now you can only spawn the NPC crafters at one point so you will only have one fully functional base with these NPCs even with 16 players on the server.
