the only limiter is you wont be able to enter certain red shroud areas until you upgrade your flame with the right materials. but thats about it.
This game has the least punishing gathering requirements of any similar game. Like it's hugely refreshing that you only need to do a couple runs of each resource per character.

Back when the game came out tin sucked HARD but they rebalanced and it's been fine imho since but ymmv as that is subjective.
For sure, but discouraged really fast from building, once I finally got to iron picaxe and realized it was not that much better at all, at even with the skill point. Idk- maybe it’s just me, but farming for hours to only able to spend a few foundations is not satisfying.
Heh I'd never build with the metal blocks for exactly what you said.
I just use metal for armor/weapons/progression and of course the comfort level items.
