@Sgt.Jesus: No, i can build fine in the rest of my area, just not on that specific spot where i just removed a block which was there before.
I couldnt rebuild or even remove blocks below my bed, I had to dimantle it first
I have a massive base and over 900k pieces invested so far. You don't have to worry about some sort of limitation.
What is happening is that you might have a decoration down that is not letting you build.
The Bed with the green on it has a huge radius that makes it so you can't build around it and that is one example.
Remove the decoration, adjust building and replace decoration.
Edited: i just saw where you said you removed everything. Try logging out wait like one minute and hop back in.
Also, double and triple check there isn't one tiny little item in the ground or something silly like that lol.
If I move the piece even a little I can build then but then it won't fit into the right place...
There is absolutely nothing blocking the piece yet I'm getting the "cannot build here" message.
I wish there was a way around this other than maybe using the builders cheat table from nexus mods.
This is not the first build dead zone I've found where there is no way some creature or NPC is blocking things.
It's kind of frustrating really
I just had the same thing happen, but I was finally able to replace it. Instead of having the build cursor point directly at the empty spot, I aimed the cursor to the block left the open space. (Probably if I would have aimed at right side block or block above or below would have worked as well.)
I was then able to place the block I took out back.
