Impossible to play co-op
My daughter and I bought the game so we can player together. The host doesn't seem to have any problems but the other who joins finds it impossible to play: The other disappears, blinks out; the joiner suddenly is landed in a red shroud or tossed over the side of a cliff or finds themselves landed in a pool of lava. Often in each instance coming to life then dying, etc over and over again. Can't open doors or loot. So many problems it is impossible to find any enjoyment playing together. I've tried adjusting the settings to take any strain off the games 'workings'. Initially this helped a little, allowing the joiner to use the grapple hook, or to jump without falling. I'm not an IT expert just an 82 year old woman who loves gaming and particularly loves gaming with my international daughter. Is there anything I can do to make co-op work seamlessly or must we wait until the full development of the game.

I think that's your issue right there, Denmark to Australia is a large distance. You're looking at 300ms even if you rented a server in either Sydney or Copenhagen. Other games have dedicated servers, like Elden Ring you mentioned. But this game is typically a P2P connection or use your own server or rent one. The Devs probably can't afford dedicated servers and don't have a reason to because no PVP and it's not an MMORPG either.
You're in a tough spot, best bet would be to rent a server in Sydney if your daughter has better internet speeds.

There's nothing you can really do apart from moving next to each other. The game has HUGE issues when your ping is >150 or so. I've never seen any other game lag this bad even on 300+ pings. There are multiple topics about it. Guess it's some kind of issue with their custom engine, it looks like a bug from my observations. Hoping the devs will take notice and fix it.

sounds like you might need to rent a server to host the game somewhere.

it is what i do with my friends for minecraft and 7d2d. sure i can host one just fine but for ping i get a server that is between us so everyone has a better connection.

Also server centers have much better internet service there.

Sounds about right. My friend lives on the other side of the country and we had no issues once we got the drivers sorted.
