Weird tree glitch
https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3158804477

After I cut down this tree I noticed it was still partially rendering but almost invisible. Even after restarting the game it is still there. I noticed my base boundary goes right through the middle of this tree. Is that why? If it is hopefully it will go away if I expand the perimeter of my base again. I have already expanded it once.

This looks like what would be rendered when far away. The tree should respawn eventually perhaps cutting it down again after will help.

I've quit and restarted the game a dozen times and it just persists and I can't cut it down. It's like it isn't there.

we had that happen on our server and nothing I did could fix it either

There is a fix and i am here with the answer!

I encountered this twice.

First time in the starting stages of the game where you can build your first base, and i couldn't get rid of it so i just made a new world. yada yada. Turns out, all i had to do was just keep playing a little bit, get a tree seedling (doesn't really matter which tree) and plant it in the same spot as the glitched tree. Let the tree fully grow and it's gone. Feel free to cut the new tree down and both will be gone from history.

Super welcome.

Just for the heck of it I am going to try moving my flame altar so the perimeter isn't smack in the middle of this tree. I wanted to move it anyways since I have expanded my base.

I realized I can't move my flame altar yet because I don't have the materials to upgrade it and my base is now partially outside the 40x40 area.

As you can see in the picture there are 2 affected trees that are directly in the line of the perimeter. This must be the problem.

I moved my flame altar so that the perimeter isn't in the center of 2 of these glitched trees. Now they are back to normal.

New post on this - does anyone know why the trees render this way? Even when far away, it is extremely annoying and immersion breaking to just see a mesh of a tree in the distance. It's horribly noticeable in the savannah area.
