What am I doing wrong.
I really like this game, I have only been playing a few days, but I really love the concept, but I am stuck with an issue I can't figure out. The grappling hook, ceiling jumps. I have tried everything to use them in the obelisks, to get to the high area's and nothing I tried works, I simply come up short, and fall straight down. I am of course on PC I have tried hitting space bar to jump, I still go straight down. If I can't get past this, I can't get my NPC's so I should just quit right here if I can't resolve this issue.

Thanks

Are you referring to the vault where you can find the farmer? If it's the case you can avoid the double hook / jump part by entering the building from the top.

Otherwise, make sure you are fully rested. Carry a campfire with you at all time and have stamina food in your inventory as well. When you come across a more challenging section of a puzzle ensure that your stamina is full as each hook / jump will deplete it rather quickly.
Also, when it comes to your grappling hook - do you have the upgraded version?

I just crafted a grappling hook but haven't had a chance to use it yet. It had the option to equip it but I don't see it in my inventory now so I have no idea how to use it.

When there are two of them on the ceiling? Don't jump. I know it feels more natural to jump and then press the hook again, but you don't have to do this. While your guy is swinging, just press the hook again and he'll automatically use it on the next one.

Also. Invest in Double Jump. It's an amazing ability that helps a lot.

Not sure, but my one buddy kept coming up short at one spot. He didnt notice the 2nd grapple hook attachment. He would just grapple and jump. He came up short every time. After I told him to look for second hook attachment, he found it. He then grapple , grapple, jump. made it first shot. Maybe you are at the same place ?

It's in your equipment screen. With your Armour and Accessories.

The Grappling Anchors will show what button to use when you're close enough. On the keyboard it should be "E" and on the controller it should be "Y" to use.

Thank you all, and yes, I am talking about the double grappling hook. I had trouble with the first spire, but somehow made it across. so there is a upgrade to the grappling hook?
I did at one point, try to climbe up onto the roof, but gave up mining my way up and am just trying to figure the double roof (what are they called?) swing loop.

You are going to need Double Jump for some. You can farm something to level. After that you might want to upgrade your glider so you can get the perk to go higher. A lot of work at the start but doable if you need some advanced comments. Once you reach the top, it becomes a Fast Travel point. Use the transporter again to redo the inside quest. There is alot going on in this game, so don't rage on some parts.

I got it, I went up on the roof. I was so close the first time I tried to get up there, but thank you

Its basic, you just want to equip it, and you will see shiny, I don't know what to call them. Looks like a bracket, that has a E if you are pc, its pretty basic, click e and go, but there are a couple of un basic spots that are tricky. Try it on the bridge.

I will look for the glider upgrade, and I did look at double jump as well. I am not certain what path I will take as for class, I have some fighter, and some wiz, healing, just using what works at this point, and picking a direction and finding my way. I love this game.

Thank you

I didn't notice it either, but the second was showing and not hooking, when I tried it. Either way, I am very happy to put this behind me. I went through the roof.

This worked thank you! I never knew the palms of my hands could sweat! :steamhappy:

Work on increasing your "rested" bonus from your base. That has an AMAZING effect on stamina. That really helps with a lot of the run/jump/swing/climb puzzles.

Also, save up the "fell flasks". Those increase your max stamina.

Skills can really help too. Respeccing is super cheap, so it's possible to respec to some other skill trees, just for the passive +stamina bonuses, then respec back.

Gear can add bonuses too. I passed one annoying puzzle by simply bringing ranger gear with me and putting it on temporarily for the +stamina max.

I feel your pain, as I've been there too.
While I like the concept of using a grappling hook, I have the feeling the window of using them is quite too often too small; making it a case of hitting the "E"-button - in my case - a matter of fractions of seconds. Time slightly off and you're "fallling to your doom". In both cases of speaking in at least one part of the game.

I don't like the idea of something needing 25+ attempts (Yes, it took me that many in the Spire of the Huntress) to cross a gap and in that particular situation I've been very close to the point to uninstall the game.
IMHO it may have been better if the Dev's had looked into using two ways to climb a spire. One using the difficult puzzles at the inside and one using easier puzzles at the outside of the spire; making it slightly easier for players which challenge they'd prefer to take.
But I fear that'll never happen.

i too had this issue, it's all about your stamina running out mid jump.
Try to get a good rested bonus at your home.

One thing that really helps is to sit by those huge fires, apparently we are made of fire, so you rest there and get a bonus to stamina, water and honey helps too.
