Respeccing is anti-immersive
If I train for years to be a doctor, and practice for years to become a highly skilled specialist, I can't just pay a guy $20 to suddenly be a well trained attorney, then another $20 to become a rocket scientist. Same with starting as a glass cannon wizard and suddenly becoming a burly tank. It takes years to build a warrior physique, never mind all the combat training.

It's pretty anti-immersive. Not a fan.

Pro Tip: So simply don't respec - no one forces you in the game, just ignore the option - and so you don't spoil yourself your immersion?

Hope you will never pick up double jump then.

Ah yes, also being able to sprint as long as we can is very unimmersive for a fat slob like me, so I think the devs should remove the option for running as well. Also what's with this "you die but then live again" bs, totally unrealistic. Ironman mode only plx.

I don't respec. But it is becoming apparent that some builds don't work as well as others for certain important tasks in game. Then the common suggestion is 'Respec'.

I'm still learning Enshrouded, but I only play Valheim or Empyrion Iron Man. They don't even have a setting for it, I just do it.

(edit) also: you've trained for years to attain your current physique. The guy who can run a marathon can't win a hot dog eating contest with you, and you can't change that with a small respec fee.

"paying some guy" ... you aren't paying anyone. You are making an offering to the flame to rekindle you since you are flameborn. It's the same idea behind taking embers from a campfire and putting it into a tinderbox only to let the fire die out and make a torch instead.

You are thinking your character is a human. They are not. They are literally fire taking the shape of a human. They are born of the flame, made men by the flame, undone by the flame... fear the old flame.

I like this response. It works with the lore to create some sort of explanation. It does, however, beg the question of 'if the flame can just boost me, why do I start a noob? Push me out the gate ready to win, Flameboss!'

Here's a few answers, and you can pick the one you like best.

Pragmatic: If you were already level hojillion, the game would be pretty short. You kick down the door, yell, "Honey, I'm home!" and the Shroud sneaks out the bedroom window, never to come back.

In-game: Ever used a firedrill? A fire starts as barely an ember, and needs careful nurturing to turn into a smoulder, needs to be shielded from the wind and errant rain drops, and with time and care, it can become a merry little campfire you can cook your meat on. Or, without care, eventually a roaring blaze that incinerates all it touches.

Then don't do it. No one is forcing you to respec. Just play how you want and leave others to play how they want.

My guy:
You REALLY need to learn to separate Reality from Fiction.
It's a freaking Video Game.
It is entertainment to be enjoyed in a variety of ways.
There is LITERAL MAGIC in this game.
Now stop trying to police how other people have fun and get off the internet.
