I dislike the shroud timer. Thankfully there is already a mod that can shut it off. Wemod. Changed my entire attitude about the Shroud. Takes all the pressure right off. Now it's just another biome. For my preferred playstyle it's a must.
Let's hope they block wemod here as well then.
That's ... Literally the point of progress.
Are you going to complain you can't beat the final boss within the first few hours, next?
Have some points.
100 agree. They are why a game like this exists. Dont get me wrong it is fun but this is a baby mode game compared to some of the stuff i grew up with in the early to late 90s. The reason it is fun is the tension but even that has no true penalty. Ooh i lose some mats. Boo Hoo.
In the case of the Eternal Spell Vault, if I'm remembering correctly, you do not need to run out of there. Just take the stairs all the way to the top of the tower because it's above the shroud, and then teleport yourself home.
I think it all comes down to each player approach. For example maybe YOU will enter the area from the east, maybe i will enter from the north. And it can drastically change your adventure.
In the case of the eternal spell, all i remember when i was tracking this quest, is that the angle i chose to find my way in was definitely the wrong one as i was litterally surounded by lava everywhere with no way in whatsoever. i decided to reevaluate my option and tried to find an other angle for a better way in, and suddenly all went smoothy.
It's just that some players will only try things the way they initially planned it and don't adapt.
Personnaly i like the stress of the shroud and the lava, though i dislike the fact that in some places you just cannot see more than 3 feets away. It might be because of my hardware or settings but it is for sure frustrating and not a good feeling.
Luckily or not the game is very very very forgiving about dying.
Been there. Done that. PoF (Plane of Fear) too.
Here's how punishing EQ was - if you didn't retrieve your corpse within a certain time period?
* POOF * Corpse was gone. Everything on it TOO.

I know what the OP did. He watched one of the many videos about "farming" and thought, 'Hey, I want ph4t l3wtz too", completely discounting the hours it takes to build your shrine, or get a better glider, or whatever.
Hauled a55 out East, couldn't understand why the shroud was blue on the YT / Twitch vid, and his was red.
Died horribly.
Came to boards to complain.
your moving into the more difficult parts of the game WAY to early. follow your given quests. there are talents to extend your time in the shroud. upgrade your flame. don't push forward to fast.
LOOOOOOOOOL. been there. good old daoc. they would literally spam the forums with complain threads about the relic not been takeable at night because "its unfair".
back then people still loathed people doing this but it was still viewed as "waiting for the right moment" tactics aswell. and it was way more fair than people crashing the server with mushroom spam during relic raids^^ cause you could atleast stop the former.
