Wood farming?

Long story short, building preposterous house.
Need stupid amounts of wood logs.

Is there a faster way to get said logs without just running into a forest and going chop crazy?

Trees there respawn faster than I can clear them. I've never had to exit and back in to get them to respawn, though you can if you like.
I get 1k wood in nothing flat there. And farmed for about 30 minutes (ok, maybe it was an hour) one day and got around 5k wood.

Only mobs there are a couple level 1 wolves.

Just farm the starting area. Quit. Rejoin. Start again.

While you're doing this, collect resin, fibre and dirt for later. But also go to the well every so often to collect water. Try and multi task for these things and you will have loads of resources, that you won't have to go back for.

I *think* using higher level felling axe gives more resources, just like using higher level pickaxes produce more ores while mining.

Pretty sure they do not produce more. They do, however, harvest the resources that are there faster, and last longer before breaking. So they're still worth getting to improve your gathering efficiency.

Haha.

I see your preposterous wood house and raise you Elixir Well block Underground Village.

Seriously though - Once you have the upgraded skills and tools take out 4 or 5 axes and you'll come back with more wood then a strip club on the weekend.

If you aren't lvl 25 and haven't explored everything, save the preposterous building for after that. It will be much easier for gathering literally everything.

Pretty much get Lumberjack skill, gives you more power when cutting down wood. Also, yeah- plant trees in farm soil. Lay Farm soils down on the ground with the hammer, usually best to use square ground covering, get the almanac for Emily, make some seed makers, use twigs with farm soil in seed makers. Then, plant trees in farm soil.
There's a stronger farm soil made from fossilized bone dust, nitrate and other stuff, but that's later on.
