Wood farming?

Long story short, building preposterous house.
Need stupid amounts of wood logs.

Is there a faster way to get said logs without just running into a forest and going chop crazy?

Break everything you see while exploring. 90% of my wood comes from broken crates, tables, shelves, etc. And I have enough wood for the kiln, the charcoal maker, and smelting, and building.

Btw, I have found that the single best things to smash stuff is the misfortune mace. I have a lower level one and it works better then max level 25 weapons. The only difference I see is the misfortune mace is 50/50 blunt and piercing damage. It will break things in fewer hits then even a legendary sunhammer. The metalstar mace is also blunt/piercing but the piercing is a lower %. like 1/3rd to 2/3rd blunt IIRC.

Now that I'm needing more charcoal for copper, I too am finding that trees to not drop enough wood. Go far enough north to hit the forest biome (and much larger trees) and they start dropping hard wood sadly, wont work for charcoal.

Just keep completing the quests for the different NPC's and you will unlock them. I can't remember exactly when they unlock but pretty sure it's quite early.

That comes when you get the scroll bag for the farmer. Kind of later in the play-through.

I had access to tree saplings almost immediately after i built my first seedbed, its something you get almost right away.
you need to browse recipes on the seedbed and set it to the tree type you want.

OP. I chop up the trees around the "first" tower. I get about 18-36 logs per tree.

Trees there respawn faster than I can clear them. I've never had to exit and back in to get them to respawn, though you can if you like.
I get 1k wood in nothing flat there. And farmed for about 30 minutes (ok, maybe it was an hour) one day and got around 5k wood.

Only mobs there are a couple level 1 wolves.

This is a viable option. Though, I find it more work (much more) to "make seedlings, plant them, wait for them to grow"... than I do just fast travel to my goto spot and chop chop.

Get a sorcerers staff, sacrifice some enemies for their blood, and then cast Desecrate, i think the spell name is. Oh and be corrupted maybe 33%.

Yes. You can plant trees.

Anyone know if there is a "best" tree to farm. I notice in the 3rd you can get wood from the chonky trees, but they are far fewer.
