World Woefully Lacking of Enemies
I find the world is far to....barren, of life. Specifically enemies. I can wander the world, calm and unafraid that something will jump out to attack me, because frankly, nothing will. Barren lands as far as the eye can see. Calmed wilderness animals that will help me out and can be temporarily tamed if need be, because of skills. Vast swathes of Shroud devoid of anything scary or even remotely threatening. Of course being level capped at 25 for the moment, there isn't much in the rest of he world that is actually threatening.

Sure, the Kindlewastes offer up some level 30 mobs, and those float-y guys that whip the dual blades and a skull at you and teleport are nasty to deal with up close. But get the jump on them with an explosive arrow at extreme range and by the time they close to melee range they are kaput.

I'm fleshing out the rest of my map, just seeing where the borders are and uncovering POI's where I can, but everything else in between is lonely as it just looks an feels empty, because it is.

Shroud areas should have at least double the population of the enemies they have now, and their aggro range and chase range should be doubled. I get that this is "supposed" to be a dangerous world and the low levels feel that way for a time. A short time. After that, it's easy to go large amounts of time without having to deal with a mob, or even seeing them.

I can imagine once the game has been fully launched we'll see some higher level areas, but the progression will probably amount to the same and the scarcity of the enemies will not change.

I honestly want to be running scared from the amount of enemies I have to encounter and deal with.

Please add the "survival" to this game.

Well, there was this catastrophe that wiped out much of the human race. So yeah, things are a little barren.

Have you been raiding elixir wells? Those often have a lot more enemies. Scavenger camps are fun too. Right now, those are two biggest concentrations of enemies.
Nerevar Feb 7, 2024 @ 5:20pm
yeah some sections of the current map feel... empty. even some large shroud sections are devoid of enemies.

why bandits are never found outside thier camps is beyond me tbh.

not that more enemies would add anything to the game currently. the "survival" tag is currently simply a wrong label for this game no matter what some people wanna pretend. there is no survival here really currently.

the world aint hostile. your base is always safe. you dont have to take care of food water or sleep.

it feels like a themepark world overall currently. it has some flair but the more you play it the more you notice the things it lacks.

i hope alot of this is just the result of early access and this doesnt end up like smalland just with a bigger map.

You do know we only have 1/3rd of the game unlocked for now.

I do. But IMHO if this 1/3 is supposed to give us a taste of larger world that is ahead, then it will be just more of the same, only a larger world of missed opportunities.

Don't get me wrong. I love the game and of all aspects of any "survival" and/or "building" game what I enjoy the most is building. Enshrouded has that going for itself in more ways than one and I'm loving renovating the Blue Goblet Inn at the moment, but I think I agree with Nerevar's assessment at this time: "it feels like a themepark world overall currently. it has some flair but the more you play it the more you notice the things it lacks."

Yeah true reminds me of Skyrim a bit too

I'm not too keen with what is on offer, but, it's not terrible. Just wish they'd fix the 60FPSFrameCap so I can actually enjoy what is actually there. Scale encounters to the amount of players in vicinity, etc...cause right now the actual difficulty in this game is a snoozefest, and the only real threat is accidentally landing in red shroud and dying instantly.

I like the enemy placement, when i enter the shroud, at least the large areas, those freaking bugs always pop up and swarm me, took me awhile too to learn i could destroy their nests with the bomb.
Its like the calm before the storm you know, that clock ticking and you know they are coming, its nice, above the shroud enemies are easily seen and have their forts and locations, not in there.
They should put more roaming bands of enemies though, or some larger foes running around.

Hopefully more variation in mobs/critters will be added too. Seeing the same few enemies all the time does get a bit old quickly.

As somebody mentioned above, the world before us was decimated by "The Shroud". We don't know if the existing structures were built upon our civilization, or one that came after that.

Lot of skeletons. Not as many as F4 (Seriously), but a lot.

you remind me of star wars fans building lore for an issue created by a practical issue in the games development, instead of the obvious answer which is all enemies have to be spawned at a location. all enemies are leashed to their spawn location. so that means no random bandits or monsters roaming the map. as well as very few animals as those have to be hand placed at this time.

Yeah I would like to see more enemies along with "champion" variants that drop actual items...right now only having like 3 enemies that can drop actual weapons and armor pretty much forces you into chest farming...which is kind of boring. There needs to be more mini boss types roaming around randomly, would be nice to see more of the big berserkers, wraiths, and phantoms just randomly in the world.

Nah its good. Too many is just a PITA like all those fantasy MMORPG ...boring, I want to fly over it all and go mine my lootz.

We need better crafted gear , the crafted weapons are junk

Need more heaps dangerous enemies. Game is way too easy, need more random encounters and big bosses.
holdem Feb 8, 2024 @ 12:45am
Another big issue for me is when lvl 25 there is absolutely no point anymore to kill any mob or boss.
The mats they drop are poorly connected with the current crafting system and chest are simply better for gear and loot.
Would love to see a road map to see what they plan to add if anything.
