Besides that, I agree with you that the torn fabric drops way to much compared to the usage. Unless you use up tons of bandages (which would clutter your backpack as well), it's hard to make use of it. Most likely the drop rate could be halved and next to nobody would notice it in a negative way. ^^"
So for both I would like to see either a) a lower drop rate or b) (prefered) some additional use cases that makes it worth picking them up later on.
This. Oh so this.
But agree, it ends up stacking up in chests like crazy.
But even then, that's a good thing! The only way I can get over my hoarder/loot goblin ocd is to say "I already have tons in storage". So I delete whole stacks of torn fabric while out and about and I have no pangs about it. If it had more uses, it would physically hurt me to delete them. I love when devs do this, since it just helps me get over the OCD urge to haul EVERYTHING back.
The thing about runes... if our level wasnt capped. we'd still be upgrading gear, testing new things, and we would not be accumulating runes so much. Its an end-game feeling to have maxed out best tier weapons and not need the runes you are getting.
Additional use cases would be interesting though.
its smoother to hit E F to quick loot and move on. its not a matter of being a hoarder. its a matter of "omg i have to stop killing stuff and take a moment deal with this annoying loot"
its... i come home and quick open box --> merge stacks down the line, and sleep, then head out.....
but now suddenly i have entire boxes of only cloth... Bandages are nice early game... but then you get health potions and never really need 2 different kinds of healing items. I can crank out stacks of pots easy, and never even thought to make bandages.
edit: survival mechanics, and status affects would be a neat way to make multiple healing items relevant. "bandages cure bleeding, not just heal like a health pot does"
I'm max level yes, but I don't feel like I've got super optimized weapons. My mate and me just got a rough direction kinda fast (he melee, I bows) and afterwards we scrapped alot more weapons (even for our classes) than we thought would be worth upgarding and giving them a try.
Like said, we stopped caring about runes around lvl 10, because already there we got a good reserve of them and felt like we'll get more than we will use up. That was faar before reaching the end game. So yeah, additional usages for them would be nice.
One thing I could think about right now would be rerolling the perks on the item. that would allow to create the perfect weapon, but could also work as a rune sink on the way there.
/edit:
Maybe I play different, but like already said, me and my mate got like 12k runes we don't know how to spend, and for the last sessions, we haven't even salvaged all the weapons we've got and ignored most fell corpses for quite a while.
A good endgame sinkhole for them would also be my prefered option, but adjusting the drop/salvage rates is most likely the faster one. For games like this, if stuff drops in such an abundance, that it becomes irrelevant, its a clear hint of something going wrong.
Please remember, we don't have the full game. We only got up to iron and there's still a ton left. The rest of the content will more than likely be added and torn cloth will more than likely have a use.
