I would recommend having the skill Blink and Emergency Blink, you become immune to Stun and it becomes much easier to quickly navigate around the battlefield. It is probably the strongest skill in the game in my opinion, it also works well with Evasive Strike.

Dodge roll his attacks and go on the offensive in between his attacks when he's left open. This is how you deal with every boss, its a simple game.

Although i will add, when he starts summoning bugs, thats your best opportunity to burst him down.

bring a 20 stack of health pots if youre having issues.
Stay moving.
i wasnt a melee build, so it may have been easier for me.... but once you get used to how it moves, its easy to not get hit. the issue is it has a lot of health, and can hit you hard asf.

If anyone falls onto this comment still looking for help. here is my pointers.

1. Go to your flame and reset skill points into Strength + Constitution.
2. Get 10 greater health potions.
3. Get best meat you can get your hands on.
4. just spam melee the boss feet and heal when you can.

I died many times to this boss lol, but finally got it this is the way.
If anyone tells you its a skill issue, they have no skill.

P.S. I built my base on the east mountain of this boss, so I tested this a lot.

In Souls games, there are 2 kinds of bosses: big ones and small ones. Examples of big bosses are dragons, small ones are (usually) humanoids.

For Big Bosses, stick to their sides and backs. Don't face-tank them since their front attacks are usually devastating. They probably have an AOE to keep players from staying at their sides/backs for extended periods of time. Examples of AOE would be the boss spinning on the spot (e.g. the dragon spin-attacking with the tail), or the Wyvern's mortar-like attack.

So the usual strat for Big Boss is: stick to the side/back, don't get greedy and move away when the AOE is telegraphed.

For Enshrouded, all the bosses can be treated as Big Boss: keep close, keep to the sides and back.

As others have said keep moving.
Don't worry about targeting the bugs unless they're within your melee range.
Try this sequence, jump, when you hit the top of the jump (couple seconds) hit jump again so you glide and then roll dodge automatically. As you come out of the roll pop a bandage and then do the glide sequence again.
Don't even get close to him if you can help it, and be constantly watching for him to go into his summon animation. At that point hit him in the mouth with your bow. He should go down stunned and you then hit him with all you've got. Just keep repeating and it's an easy fight, or was for me.
Also watch the floor when you enter the large room after. There's a lot of the bugs in the floor, you can't target them and they'll kill you if you let them.

Pack lots of health potions and put them where you can use them easily in your hotbar. Other than that - what the others say. Maybe also level up a little more than lvl 13.

It's an extremely tough boss that is a ridiculous step up the level of challenge from anything you've seen up to that point.

There is definitely a specific strategy that you have to follow in order to have any possibility of success. And you can find that strategy all over youtube. But the strategy is useless unless you're as prepared as you can possibly be for that fight. Meaning as high a level with as many skill points it's possible to get at that stage in the game. Having gotten all the extra skill points you get from the shroud roots you have access to at that point. The absolute best armor and weapons you can possibly get your hands on at that point. All of the best food buffs you can possibly make running at all times. And even with all that you'll likely still burn through almost a full stack of health potions.

Boss can be melee (did it the first time) but it is REALLY long fight.

The boss will do "most of this" in the order
1. Breath - you can use dodge to one side and smack his legs couple of time and dodge out.
2. AoE "bomb" 3-5 bombs so you can dodge the 1st one and smack his leg some more
3. summon mobs 3-4 which you can easily smack it with your sword.
4. Tail smack - stuns you, but only when you are close. so smack and roll away.

usually he does 1,2,3 but sometimes he does 1, 2, 1

Dodge is KEY (direction + Control) - the moment he "face you" dodge left or right twice. and roll toward him and smack 2 times and roll back.

I bring regular potion (found a lot) and bandages (cheap)

Shoot in mouth to stun him, charge back and melee which will also take out the adds. Jump/glide away until next open mouth shot, jump/glide in for melee. Once I got this down Ranged/Melee it was much easier for me to one go beat the boss. Don't focus on the adds, kill them at the boss for multi hit wins, heal when you glide away.

Have you tried a stun arrow? Do you know what to use? Could you kill another root to gain more points?
kilexe Feb 18, 2024 @ 5:15pm
Dodging and blocking is very useful in this game.

I just shot him with a bow and it was dead by the 2nd stun. Volley is strong af though.

He is not balanced correctly. I've had no trouble with anything in the game except him, who was impossible. I had the same build, no magic, all archer/ melee. shield and 1 handed sword. I couldn't get a dent on him in 20 or so tries at L 13. Tried every tactic anyone suggested to no avail. Watched Youtube videos and tried again. Nope. Dreamed up some of own like carving out the fungus so I get up on the wall, but he hits you up on the wall and you have less room to move, so nope.

But I had completed everything I could reach in the game map, so I cheesed a stairway into the Nomadlands and levelled to 18. Explored everywhere I could reach again, but any further upgrades were gated in red shroud until the Wyrm was dead.

With the best gear I could get, which included a good sword, a great bow, and and an OP wand, and dozens of practice runs I tried again. I never got him down past 80%. Not even close.

I was left with three options: 1; Quit the game and give it a D- review because I couldn't reach 40% of the content, 2; Go to Elwynn Forest to grind boars like the South Park crew to add levels but no gear and hope to do better at L 25 after skipping all the other content because I can't reach it, or 3: Cheat or mod the game. Thankfully the wemod app is already figuring out that the game needs adjustment. I used it just long enough to kill the worm and open that gate.

Until I realized it will also turn off the shroud timer completely too. I urgently disliked the shroud timer. Getting rid of it brought my eventual review up an entire letter grade.

Try the Wyrm until it's not fun any more, then kill him with the wemod app. It's free, and only takes a few minutes to download.

That's a nice way of saying you don't understand how to handle that boss :D

Just avoid his attacks, wait for him to open his mouth to charge his laserthingy, shoot a arrow into his mouth while he is charging, he is stunned for a little bit, attack and do a lot of damage, repeat.

Also take some good food buffs and drink buffs for health regen with you.
