My first co-op char i was trying to wait for friends so we can progress together.
Simply building around and farming and mining stuff, in no time i was level 16 one of the other guys was still lvl 8.
Mining XP might be a bit too much.
I understand they wanted to maybe give the option for someone in a co-op group who does not like fighting and exploring, and wants to just play builder and miner, can still level up.
I'm not sure how they can fix the excessive XP gains, and still allow for that type of player to get their groove
I think the idea is not to remove it, but to balance it.
For someone like me who likes to both battle and mine resources, the XP is a bit on the high side.
I can't put progressijon on hold and wait for mates and go mine instead while i wait.
I guess i could just go chop, build, gather. But if i really need lots of extra flint for that new tower it kinda sucks
But if someone wants to pause progression for a bit and go out stockpiling resources, do some large base expansions and such, by the time you get back to progress the game, you are too overleveled for the quests and current area.
Maybe the easiest solution is to remove or greatly reduce the XP gains from mining, but then adding one skill, or a few skills to get extra XP and resources from mining, and chopping, even farming. (besides the 2 that exist now), that way the sim players who just wanna farm and play base builder can still progress in levels and specialize in those professions with more efficiency, while others who do a lot of combat can still stockpile their resources without getting over-leveled
