Multiplayer Desync & Lagspike issue goes ignored by the developers.
Keep the comments clean and constructive.
Don't comment unless you got something to add (if you're having the same issues or potential fixes) or to legitimately discuss the situation.

Going back a week now, there was an update that broke the game for many players.
These players are now having 30-120 second long lagspikes where really nothing can be done except run around. You can still swing your weapon, and while on your screen everything is just floating mid-air, on the other players screen, you are still moving around normally and hitting enemies.

However, for the player who is lagging, it's impossible to tell what you're actually doing, until the lagspike ends.
Then there is a massive desync where everything catches up. And once it's caught up, the lagspike begins again.

This issue has been completely ignored by the developers of this game.
I'm not asking for a immediate fix, I'm asking for the developers to acknowledge that the issue exists.

If the devs can't or wont acknowledge the issue, then I have no reason to stick around here, or wait for a fix. Refund is my only option left and I'm sure Valve would agree that a broken game can be refunded. [Update: Refund Requested.] [Update 2: Refund denied because I spent too much time trying to fix the issue, thinking it was on my side. Most likely a bot response, not looking at my ticket properly, but I'll take the loss.]

Server hosting websites also experience the same issue, outside of G-Portal.

Whatever this issue is, it originates from a game update going back around a week from now.

This thread will be bumped until it is acknowledged or until I give up and move on.

Other information:
My system specs are as followed.
Ryzen 5 5600x
HyperX 32gb (4x8) 3600 CL17
Gigabyte RTX 3070
ASUS ROG Strix x570-E
300 mbit Fiber internet, very stable connection, best ISP (Internet Service Provider) in my country, and potentially the best ISP in Europe for various reasons.

My PC temperatures are cool, everything is working as intended, no issues with any other servers. I disabled all firewalls, including the router firewall. I forwarded the ports as well.

If my friends host, the same issue happens, which I believe would rule out my PC/Router/Internet. And considering there are 10+ other threads on here, I'd say that rules out personal problems. And suggests that this is an issue with the game, perhaps a compatibility oversight issue introduced in one of the patches from a week ago.

And as a side note: the host never lags. Only the people connecting to the host.
This is not a performance issue.

bisecthosting is pretty good I have had it since launch day no issues at all , no lag spikes rubber banding or the like , it has crashed once but that was because they had gave me the wrong server node and size but , once that was corrected i haven't had a single issue.

I will note that i also restart the server once every 24 hours but this is something i have done with most servers i rent for games like this .

What i have and run on are as followed
1 gb internet (not that this matters much )

Processor: Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-9700F CPU @ 3.00GHz 8/8
Motherboard: ASRock B365M IB-R
RAM: 16 GB
Name: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1660 SUPER
Memory: 6 GB
Driver date: 1/12/2024
Driver version: 31.0.15.4665

Hi! same here, +200ms, the game is unplayable, not just me but like you, we tried it from both sides. Im playing other games(same latency) and I dont have any troubles at all. Its not a Pc, router/internet issue on my end, as this is my usual latency when I play on EU servers, even more, Gportal doesnt work well for me and my friends and that's strange because in the past I've used "4netplayers" to host my V-rising and 7 days to die servers in EU, with no issues at all . And I can remember "7 days to die" having the same latency issue back in the days with the peer to peer connection, and they fixed it (no more needs of a payed dedicated server after that).
I hope Devs will look for it, for now Im playing the game in solo mode same for my friends.

I don't mind playing with high ping, but desyncs and lagspikes that last this long makes it completely unplayable.

same here with the massiv lags. I have set a dedicated enshrouded Server on a clean Ubuntu-Server with no GUI , 32 gigs RAM and 8 strong AMD Cores. Game is unplayable after first join with only one player.
bump, now this is a great change of attitude.

yup.. we also having the same problem.
possible simple fix, at least provide us with LAN connect or IP.
so we can do something about it, using alternate solution like hamachi etc.

Can you add Hamachi IP to the Steam "Game Servers" list?

Exactly the same thing here.
I try and play with a friend of mine hosting a world save from his machine as a co-op session (I suspect the way the game does this isn't actually to have the host's client become a server... But haven't tested that theory properly yet), and this is proving to be super frustrating! We can't really afford for either of us to regularly pay for a dedicated option, though it's interesting to see in all these threads that the issues can still occur on non ad-hoc sessions...
My buddy didn't initially understand what was going on, but then he played on another friend's server and had the same symptoms. I'd been thinking that I was having the issues because my hardware was not playing nice with something they had in the net code (I'm only running a Ryzen 5 2600), but he's got a rig in/near top-tier, so while I guess it is client-code related it appears hardware agnostic 🫤
It means trying to fight with anything other than the wand is suicide 😖

Seems mad to me that this is likely the issue going to have the most impact on wherher anyone considers the game playable or not, yet the Devs haven't even put a side comment in any of their Comms that it's been noticed. If there was something affecting frame rates or state desyncs in SP to this degree, the critic reviews would be slating the game!

I do love playing Enshrouded in single player and also in MP when things are smooth, so I do hope they acknowledge this and fix it soon!

You can. the problem is. when you try to join from game server list. it just bring you to the ingame server list menu. so it's not really that helpful as of now

Starting to look like this will never be fixed :(

This was an issue from the beta test, and they still wont even talk about it. well then, they can go F**k themselves, they wont be getting any money from me. This game is now off my wish list, i want to hear nothing more about it.
Zethell Feb 10, 2024 @ 9:45am
It is certainly very weird that the developers wont even acknowledge that the issue exists.
Perhaps they just don't know how to fix it. But with all the money they made from sales, they can definitely afford to hire someone who knows how to fix it.
Zervo⭐ Feb 10, 2024 @ 5:02pm
we can only wish they will fix this after they patch the quest progression.
they and the streamer sold this as a multiplayer survival game. but in reality, the multiplayer isn't in a good condition.
in our group, we are down from 6 players to only 2 remaining. and now we don't use the dedicated server anymore. i client hosted it while using vpn to my friends country. this is the best way to do it for now.

it's a good game with bad multiplayer experience
Argemon Feb 10, 2024 @ 10:39pm
I want to play with my friend from US, I'm in EU. Is there maybe a workaround? Like using OpenVPN or something? Or is it just a desync bug and we just have to wait? Also, some people say it wasn't present at launch, while others say it was always the case, so maybe downgrading the version will help?
