Seeds disappearing...?

Is there any way to know where you can actually plant? I built some farmland and sometimes it places the seed fine, but other times, it refuses to place them in certain areas of the soil... And there's no real system to it. It's just seemingly completely random spots within my soil...

I wasn't even aware you had to plant in farmland.
I've been getting the seeds from the boxes and then just planting the seedlings anywhere in the grass xD

related to this there is a bug where if you click right after you hover over the "red" outline of the beet, you can bypass it. I don't think it will ever be fixed though lol. https://steamcommunity.com/id/theranger058/screenshot/2324489379426377767/

You don't HAVE to plant in farmland, but they grow faster when in it.

if you use the hoe to expend glitch the soil its normal you have to place it with hammer and i hope they never fix that cause its litterally cheating

I've sometimes lost plants that I had planted in farmsoil that I had spread around using the hoe. Whenever this happens I dig that spot up (once I've collected all my drown plants), and re-put down the farmsoil, and re-hoe it back down again. Its a pain, but solveable; now I dont think I have any of those issues any more. Right now I am hoping it gets fixed at some point in EA....

It seems it happens if you don't completely clear the ground prior to placing the soil. It will simply place the soil over it, rather than removing the ground and placing the soil.
