1. Dig your tunnel through ore (clay, copper, salt etc) as these mine-able resources do not respawn, so they will not fill back in on relaunching.
2. Put down a base fire and upgrade it so it covers the area you dug out. Any regular soil/stone/rubble will rebuild themselves outside a base.
nah sorry, ore, and even quest items, respawn ~every 3 hours, or when you restart the server. only viable option i can think of is to place altars long the length. preferably upgrading them to cover more range each it takes fewer. i feel real mixed about the world resetting, its good so you can base near good resource spots and never need to cope or find other spots. a good spot is a good spot. and i dont have to keep my cheesy mountain stairs looking good, cuz they'll be gone soon anyway. but its extremely annoying having to re-dig a staircase or tunnel every time. i usually go over mountains and stuff instead of under, cuz its easier to skyrim-walljump up most mountains and pickaxe the few spots you cant.
100% persistance would come with severe drawbacks. Like savefile bloat and increased loading times near heavily edited places.
