Some parts of gathering need a buff.
I have tried make a new character several times, to try approach the game in different ways. I always end up getting tired of gathering, since it feels like it is 90% of the game.

Specially stone types materials is a pain to get. The time it takes to get 100 stone you can get 200 woods.
I also cut down a hole wall of Flint which broke down my pickaxe and i only got 50 flint.
I know it's a big part of the game. But i think some materials need a buff on drop numbers. I like it to a degree, but it can also be too much.
So i end up giving up because i feel like i have no time to do quests and explore, because the time used on that was better used at gathering, so i do not run dry on next craft.
Maybe it's just me. I have played many of there types of games. This games mechanics are much better than others, i just drown in gathering.

Well I can agree that a resource takes way more time to gather than another but right now there isn't too much content to buff resource gathering.
For example: if you get a 2x resource gathering buff on certain resources then you will take away 10 to 15 hours of total farming time at the end of the game.

I do agree that they need to buff some resource drops here and there because gathering tin and lapis isn't the most fun thing ever since it takes so much time that I usually watch something else on my second monitor while I'm doing it. But for now I consider pulling out more contents as a priority because if at some point they decide to give us the world's settings then we can solve this issues by ourselves, adjusting it to whatever we feel like

Yea if these setting will be added it will be much better. I only play solo, and overall I think gathering is 90% of the game, and I feel i do not have time to explore the world.

OP needs a button to insta fill his chests with resources.
It's already unrealistic how you can craft a big stone building with a small amount of stones.

A big part of resource gathering is the tool level that you are using. If you only have the rough stone pickaxe (or whatever the first one is called) then it takes many more swings to gather a harder material like flint stone. When you upgrade to the scrappy pick you will see a noticeable time reduction to gather flint, but it will still be incredibly slow for copper. This is how it goes at each tier, the tier/s below you become trivial / quick to harvest, the current tier is a bit slower and resources that are one or more tiers above your current one is tedious at best. It is a survival game at it's core and you have to progress to become efficient.
