Problem solved.
Many games have had the same unlock mechanics, or variations thereof. Its called progression. The games you listed have some form of that also.
Crafting stations are 'bizarre' because you can only craft one thing on them at a time? Kinda bizarre if you could, I'd think. Make a vid of you crafting more than one thing at a workbench at a time. Would love to see it. THAT would be bizarre.
the crafting tools should be able to understand what you want to do if you just put correct combination of stuff in it, not that you would need to select what it does.
Won't work. Put dirt and wood in the kiln - how's the kiln supposed to know whether you want coal, tar or wood acid?
