Getting a game launched on Xbox is notoriously a pain in the ass, as is pushing through updates and managing the game once it's live.

I'm sure the developers would love to launch it on consoles and probably will, but I highly doubt it would be any time soon and I don't blame them. They have a lot planned for the game and it would be much easier to focus on the core of the game rather than the ports and availability.

Not saying it's impossible, by any means, of course.

I have to say that I am against spreading out early access development on several platforms and other non gameplay content.

It really depends on the size of a team, but game development is best done when a team has less things to focus on.

One of the worst examples I have ever seen was Stranded Deep which launched in ea in 2015.
They were a fairly small team with a great idea and loads of potential, it startedd out good, but the devs started to add more platforms during development, Mac, Linux, Xbox, Playstation, besides that they also added a ton of QoL stuff like language support for a ton of different languages, adding coop(was initially made as a singleplayer game) + a bunch more stuff.
It is now 9 years later and the game never got even half of what they had in their roadmap, they took it out of early access in late 2022 I believe, the game had barely gotten any additional gameplay content since 2017, and they are still struggling with game breaking bugs and while it still is a fun and immersive game to play, it lack so much that you quickly run out of new things to see and do, it is far from what they originally had planned.

Sadly I see many, especially small indie teams not keeping focus on their roadmap and ending up with a development where updates take considerably more time than if they had kept it simple until full release :)

well the problem isnt that they didnt meet expectations its the fact that they didnt invest in adding additional help!!!

valhiem is a fine example of this!! was a great game and still is but they didnt add any help when they launched!!! but they are still updating the game!!!

your example of stranded deep is a fine example of a team that was like ♥♥♥♥! we just copied Rust in water now we have to commit.

a good EA game will use the money they got and invest in some more help!!! and if they are really good at adding content they will either make more DLC or make another game!!

Terraria, Stardew valley, Dave the diver, and so many other great game which have gotten help to add there game to other platforms!!!

i only hope that palworld does the same and add extra help in development!
