Better Armor than Rising Fighter

Hi,

what damn quests I need to do to get better armor?
I only have the rising fighter armor and its getting difficult to stay alive because the enemies inflict so much damage.
Got Clay, but can't do anything with it, got copper, but I can't do anything with it.
How does this change?

i'm not sure what the mid game armors are for heavy but the end game seems to be called Paladin lvl 25 set, well end game for right now in EA.

Is rising fighter the lvl 13 armour? Basically the next tiers are bronze, so you need to smelt tin and copper and then after that the next set is iron. Following the quests will naturally path you toward those areas and unlocks.

The crucible quest by the Blacksmith needs to be done. That's used to make the smelter, to get copper bars. This gives the recipes for the tank and adventurer sets. At the Revelwood Spiral Tower I found a bunch of copper bars lying around.

The carpenter's the one who uses the clay (so far). I believe the kiln needs to be made.

Quests. Do your quests. This solves almost everyone's frustration with progression. Also, use a shield if you're having trouble dying. I've only ever died a few times because I get cocky and have too many enemies on me.

yes 3 lvl 25 sets but for some reason they made gloves and helmet worse as lvl 23.
lvl 25 paladin gloves get +3 damage vs melee foes while lvl 23 soldier gloves get +3 vs melee foes and +12 one hand melee damage lol
To answer op i think you just have to mine iron to unlock lvl 23 armor.
