Exp curve off? Or is it me
I've been exploring and following all the quests that the game throws at me, crafted all the current gear that's available to me. Yet I seem to be constantly, horrifically under-powered for the enemies I'm being asked to take on. I'm level 10, but being thrown at level 15 enemies who near enough 1 clap me. Levelling feels painfully slow, and it's not obvious what options there are for grinding out exp to try and catch up? Have I missed a large chunk of the game or something...

Do you always have 2-3 good foods on you?
Levelling for me felt slow until I was 15 or so and fighting level 20ish enemies. Levelling from 15 to 25 felt much faster than 1 to 15, probably due to monster density and mining tin then iron to finish gear progression.

Edit: I should note that by the time I hit the cap at 25 I still had a LOT of quests and points of interest still to go.

Unfortunately starting in the early teens, leveling accelerates far too much and you get to the cap very quickly with lots of content not yet visited.

I actually think the early game is just fine. Keep in mind, just because you have a quest offered does not mean you should be doing that particular quest right now.

We are not forced to do any particular quest at any particular time. The only way to make it so that the quest quest you get is always the right level is if the game were made far more linear. That would be bad.

For now we are free to either leave things for later or make an extra effort to deal with tough enemies.

My first character was clearing level 11 enemy areas when I was level 4.

Outside of leveling that provides Skill Points, you also get skill points from killing Shroud Roots / successfully clearing Elixir Wells (check mark on map aka killing the Shroud Root). So if any comes up, recommend doing those to get more skill points for skills.

You are probably already aware but, as you advance to higher level regions, you're at the mercy of the game's random-loot generator to give you the gear you want with the perks for it and the respective level. Higher level mob regions do give higher level gear. Adding to this, the game IS NOT persistent in areas outside of your Flame Altar so chests CAN reset with loot. Whether or not you want to abuse that knowledge is up to you. But, when you restart the game, it does reset previously opened chest same and respawn boss/elite mobs. So you could when the game load back up, go to a Elixir Well and clear it out again for possibly better gear.

The best food available to me right now is just basic cooked meat. I've just unlocked Camomile tea but don't have a supply of them yet.

The progression curve just feels off. I can make Copper bars, but the weapons available to craft aren't better than the Legendary sword I found in the first 30 minutes of the game. The only better armour available to me requires Linen, which I've only just unlocked being able to make, and doesn't particularly offer a significant increase in power.

I went to Pikehead (?) and encountered the Winderwyrm(?) boss dude, which if I have a good 300 arrows I could probably kill it, but I just ran past everything outside cause getting into a fight with the enemies in the city were guaranteed death.

I cleared all the shroud roots in springlands but now the nodes I'm trying to unlock need 4 or 5 skill points lol.

I have the same issues. The only way I can hope to win combats with comparable level mobs it kiting and plinking from high ground. I'm old. My fast twitch skills are not what they were. And even when I get the block, they seem to hack on through it, while their blocks work 100%.

Meanwhile, I explored everywhere I can reach, did (nearly) every quest, got to L 12, and that's it. No way to kill the Castle Beast gating the desert biome. Not even a contest. Just me dead dozens of times, nary a scratch on the beast. My options were go grind boars in Elwynn Forest for 5 exp each to level up, or cheese a stairway to the desert, which is what I did. Now I'm L13, running away from L18 mobs, trying to get some upgrades. I did score a sweet wand, but that still means kiting and plinking from high ground. I stand zero chance against them in melee.

One thing WoW did right was make the biome progression clear where you were most likely to find success for your level, and your quests were colored by difficulty so you knew which ones were in your comfort zone. Right now that's little vague in Enshrouded.

Trying to get into the desert at level 12 and complaining about dying is ridiculous. Everything in the desert is level 20+

What on earth makes you think that is where you should be??????

Go kill level 9 to 11 stuff, quickly and easily, and level up. Then take on level 13 stuff.

It is not rocket science.
