Stumped. Looking for suggestions. WARNING! Spoiler thread!
I'm looking for suggestions on coping with the Castle Beast. He seems to be a hard gate, and I can't make a dent in him. Dozens of attempts, just trying to learn his rotation, and getting nowhere. Tried carving away the fungus to make an escape route up onto the wall to range him, but his attacks work up on the wall too.

I read the 'how to', which is to shoot him in the mouth when he's getting ready to breath. I even managed to do so once. Before getting mobbed by his adds.

As far as I can tell I need his head to upgrade my altar to be able to withstand the red shroud. Perhaps I'm mistaken.

I have done nearly every other quest that I can reach. I've explored everywhere up to the Castle Beast. Walked the entire perimeter of the reachable map looking for another area I can explore. I'm tricked out in full adventurers gear, swinging a L 25 sword. with a pretty OP wand too. I'm L 12.

I'm looking for any solution to be able to move into the desert biome. The game is effectively over for me until I do. Perhaps it's something obvious that I've missed. But a nerf or exploit to bypass the Castle Beast is also acceptable at this point. Maybe a hidden pathway into the desert or even a good spot to build a cheese stairway that defies gravity so I can glider over the mist, a 'kill all' cheat code to kill the Castle Beast...any and all suggestions welcome. I spent all day on it, I'm no good at fast twitch gaming, and life is too short. I never made more than a 5% dent in him. I have no intention of trying again in any kind of fair fight. There is no place left for me to even level my toon. Not really into just killing boar for a month in Elwynn Forest to level like the South Park crew.

No idea too crazy, I'm stumped and over it.

Thanks in advance.

I was stuck on the Wyvern (i assume that is who you are talking about) for quite some time in my single player game.

I'm not sure how you've been specing your avatar but i've been going hard into Wizard and found victory by stocking up on health/mana potions and taking the fight slowly.
Sword for bugs, Staff with Fireball for the Wyvern.

OH and if you haven't, make sure to place a Flame Altar at the front of town to minimize the run back if you die.

I hope this helps :wololo:

Get a bunch of Acid Bite spells and spam it on him when you have an opening.
So the first time I fought the Wyvern, I got crushed 3 times in a row and for the fourth attempt, I reset my skills and went for a tank build with strength dmg boosts, then I basically kept running/rolling to stay directly under it and was able to kill it, only stopping from slashing him to deal with the bugs every so often.

First try on a pure melee, I just stood between his back legs and smacked his foot with my axe. I pretty much ignored whatever he was doing and made no effort to learn his attacks. If he moved I moved with him to keep between his legs.

The only time he hit me was when he did a belly flop. It would take out over half my health and stun me, but he wouldn't even hit me a 2nd time before I was able to roll back between his legs.

It was an easy fight.

Oh and fyi, you can move into the desert without killing it and upgrading your flame alter. There's plenty places where your pickaxe can get you over the mountains and into the new biome. Gear up in there and go back for the wyvern if you have to.

I'm ready to give the Wyvern a go, probably in the morning. I've watched a bunch of videos on it and studied his attacks (vomit, raining boulders, stomp and tail swipe). The tail swipe seems to cause players the most grief. This seems to be a boss where constant motion is a must. He does have one clear vulnerability. That is if you hit him straight in the mouth, it can put a pretty long stun on him. I suspect that there is a small window, such as just before one of his attacks (but not all of them) where he can be stunned. I'm a light armor archer, so I'm planning on a long, slow fight. I do have a fully enhanced lvl 20 legendary Commanders bow and the crafted set of rangers armor, with the ranger skill tree maxed. I'd love to try the stun arrows, but one ingredient is over in the desert which is locked until you get this guy down. : P
If I'm successful, I'll reply again to say how it went. If I don't reply again, I'm dead. : /

I've noticed the only major damage skill that he has is the belly flop the others don't do as much. I'm a mage atm with the water aura so the more int i have the better to increase the effect of the healing ticks.

For me I just wanded it to death even though it took a bit even with a legendary lvl 24 wand and all the perks with it.

I had way more issues with the leap. Sometimes it hits you when you dodge, other times you don't dodge and it lands on you with no damage lul

Thank you all for your replies. I think I'm going to go with the cheese stairway/ dig option and maybe someday I'll come back for the boss when I'm maxxed out. Maybe. Probably not. He doesn't fit my preferred play style at all, and that's okay. I love the rest of the game, just not him.
Did you find a way in?

While this is true, I was stuck on the castle beast too and found a way around the pillars of creation entrance and into the eastern desert biome. The problem still exists that the shroud in that region is red/deadly until you upgrade your altar to 4 which is what most people are stuck on. So either way you look at it, you have to kill the castle beast to progress into that area and the quests that are located within the deadly shroud like the Blacksmith's next line. I do think it's a good idea to find another way into the eastern biome and unlock materials for better gear, then go back for the castle beast.

Get Ring of Rapacity and Eternal Heal Channel. You can run around all day and heal yourself without having to worry about running out of potions. The only thing you will have to worry about then is weapon durability, unless you get Eternal Fireball or Eternal Icebolt.

When you go to this location and look in the direction the character is facing, you can find a way past the pillars of creation pretty easy and get to the next biome. Then you can collect your ingredients to unlock your spells.

When he charges a breath attack, his mouth lights up. Fire an arrow to stun him and nuke his armor temporarily. Shiv him during this time for extra damage.
I believe it must be an arrow because only arrows can headshot. I do not know how much damage you need to do to put him in this state, so you might as well grab your best bow and a couple dozen copper arrows.

Well, you were given advice and options. But in general.. and i see that even amongst Content Creaters, stop rushing the game. Take your time, explore and gain some levels by doing that. Level 12 at that point is kinda like a joke. I was arround Level 18. Sure, you can compensate some through better weapons and armor. But at the end you lack skillpoints which results into lacking attribute points and other helpful stuff.

Not really a strategy. I just stocked up on the bigger health potions (brought 20 of them), crafted the best armor at the blacksmith that was available to me at that point, upgraded my best sword to max, took my best shield, and then, I just stayed close to the beasty, jumping out of the way of the attacks as best as I could and just kept hitting it until it stopped moving, downing a health potion every time it hit me hard with one of its special attacks. I also was around lvl 18 when I tackled it. Took my time exploring, farming the stuff I needed for the armor, farmng building materials and basically finished every other quest in the area first. Still sticking with my opinion that the thunder brutes and the screechy flying things are giving me a harder time in fights than castle beasty.
