I don't know if I find it sad or funny
CONGRATS NOVA! I'm legitimately proud of you, remember this lesson for future.
Search first (google/steam discussions) - Post when you can't find the information.
I wish you well
You CPU in certain cases can act as a GPU basically you system is confusing the two when trying to load enshrouded. Make sure you go into the device manager and look for display adapters
1. go into device manager and update all the display drivers not just the 4080rtx (right click there should be an update button) try playing
2. if that doesnt work disable that device instead of updating then play the game
3. if you type graphics settings in search click the change default graphics settings click on browse and add enshrouded that will force the use of enshrouded or any game for that matter to use your 4080. Basically the default option is to let windows decide and its defaulting to your CPU this is a known ryzen issue. Just click high perfomance which will auto choose your 4080rtx.
This is a known issue with ryzen CPU's i have a ryzen 9 and had this problem with several games over the years its not just an enshrouded problem. Even if you refund it keep this in mind for other games.
The lack of a mouse in their name demonstrates they finally googled it and got it.
I know what it means this is for anyone who comes across this thread again and makes it to the end since no one bothered to actually help them fix the problem. Just google it in my eyes is not helping in a forum.
I understand that you may think that feeding people easily available information is helping them but it only 'helps' them rely on others directly rather than the resources others put up... like Valve and their comprehensive FAQ on the subject.
Instead, they spend (i think it was 2 hours) refusing to google something that would have taken under 10 minutes to complete because they expect if not demand they get the information here.
In my opinion, this is why people are getting stupider. I personally would rather not contribute to the impending Idocracy but you do you.
I'll ignore the irony you posting something for future people to search for, in a thread of someone who refused blatantly to search.
If they went on google searching for the answer do you know where they would of ended up? On a forum of people asking for a solution to the same issue. People go to forums for solutions to their problems that's it. That is the whole purpose of most forums, The entire point of the the enshrouded forum is to discuss the roadmap, discuss the game, and above all else help others fix the technical problems they are having on an early access game or any game for that matter. While this solution is also on google its not very strait forward it's all split up into possible solutions my post combined multiple separate solutions in an easy to follow way.
Many people dont really understand tech they know how to download a program and install something and expect it to work. They are coming to the internal forums for the game specifically to ask those of us who have the knowledge for help.
I'll buy it again if they fix this but otherwise this is the first time i've ever had to refund a game :/
Most ppl in this thread *ckin suck
if you have a ryzen its likely windows confusing them, it happens with some games it has nothing to do with your graphics card, windows is trying to default to the wrong display adapter.
There is an easy fix for it but that vast majority of people will assume its their graphics card and go down the wrong threads. When its windows defaulting to your CPU by accident.
Had this subject been googled, the first result is Valve.
Had it been searched in the discussions, there would have been thousands of direct results.
Forums in general however don't update threads, more often than not they get locked.
Not particularly a good source for main stream on-going information compared to say an official FAQ provided by the company of whom program you are currently using.
Slippery slope, one that can be avoided recommending people seek information from proper channels. Lest people further slip down the tech-illiteracy road and it feels like people are slipping down that bad boy faster than ever in the last 5 years.
Why would people need to learn if they can rely on someone immediately popping up and telling them when they demand it? This is the slope, as things advance we forget what came before it.... not a good thing.
So teaching folk rudimentary skills is more important now than ever.
I respect that you posted the info for future folk, as someone who actually employs the search feature but yeah.... had they searched that info even here it would have come up with over 100 results EZ.
Instead, they posted an obnoxious thread and got what they put out and lampooned.
Funniest thing is, if they had of searched for the issues they had, they would likely be playing the game now but i suspect they've moved over here from console and expect everything to just work with zero effort.... which i think we all know is a fools errand especially with Early Access titles.
Perhaps i see forums differently because my job is in tech support. I already understand that the majority of people do not understand tech at least not on a fundamental level let alone how forums work. They want a solution to their problem and it doesnt matter to me if i have to post the answer 1000 times in 1000 separate threads. For me each time i post something i have to look up and compile increases my skills just a little bit more. You learn the best through teaching and sharing info not through your own research in 99% of cases.
They don't get you to ask someone else at university, unless that someone else is literally Albert Einstein. They teach you to research provided and approved materials and where. Why? because individuals can stuff up the information or not be up-to-date on the subject compared to a living document designed for just such a purpose.
I -was- the tech guy for my friends until over the years i trained them how to troubleshoot and search in appropriate places for reliable information and how to digest it.
With the intermittent forum threads because lets face it, there is definitely a place for them. Especially that one niche issue you're having that maybe 2 other people in the world have and have chosen to discuss it online.
The best part is, now they are teaching me things about tech that is out of my wheel house and i love it, we are all better because of it.
This wasn't one of those issues though, rather, the polar opposite.
Mainline issue about the store program that no doubt millions have searched by now that has an official response right on the google page upon request.
Now, had OP asked how to resolve their issue so they could play the game and listed hardware specs? this would have played out differently.
I regularly try to help people with hardware/software comparability issues.
Not everyone has a Ryzen whatever with a 4080, makes it a niche issue and a fun case to dive into and investigate.
Don't let my opinion change what you do and how you do it though, the world would suck if everyone did the same thing. I just hope some part of what i've posted here sinks in a little if not for any other reason than understanding my position on it.
