Is There A Hold Your Ground Key?

Every time I swing my melee weapon, my character keeps moving forward. Even swinging at a tree, I have to be careful because otherwise I'll fall of the cliff in front of me. Other games that had this mechanic, also had a key that would hold your character in place, so they did not keep inching forward. I have tried the S key, but that doesn't work.

If you use the fell Axe for trees your character won't move. Otherwise I agree...it can be dangerous to fight close to edges.

This is a bit of an annoyance to me as well... when casting spells on the enemy, you inch forward a step with every cast. As a "ranged" combat I don't WANT to get closer, I want to get further away, or at the very least "stand my ground". I will admit at first with cutting down trees I was using a Hatchet (because it's an AXE too...) and it drove me nuts that I'd bounce all around the tree and only do "10 dmg"... then I crafted the actual FELLING AXE and realized it does much more dmg to the trees per swing and you stand STILL while chopping. But back to actual combat, I don't mind moving all around in melee, because that's what I do in melee anyway... but "ranged" should not be inching forward.

Yes, I was using the hatchet to cut trees at first, cuz that's all you start out with. But even attacking foes, you keep moving forward

if youre locked on youll stick to the enemy instead of flying past them

no, you will, youll just turn towards them and stick on them instead of flying past
