You can tame wolves to fight for you... they follow you around and defend you from attacking mobs. All you need to do is defend and watch the fun.
Seems very lackluster other than wolves will leave you alone or come to your aid. Having a permanent beast companion would be a good start.
With this they will aggro everything that comes close and best of all wont attack player char if u don't aggro them first, goes for all wolves, boars, the saber tigers(?) even the big birds will be on their merry way and they have a pretty strong attack when not blocked/dodged.

With the Vukarr Language from the other half of the tree u can even command the Vukarr to guard and they will hack everything to pieces that comes close. One also follows slowly but nor very far.

It would be nice if the this path would allow you to have one as permanent companion.
Well it does include poison resistance, endurance, max time enshrouded, and ranged buffs even if animals aren't in every location to help you... This is early access. Them bringing a pet wolf or bird or something(more wildlife ie) into the game is still in the cards

It also makes looting many of the POIs in places like Nomad Highlands very convenient when no wild animals or Vulkan will attack you.

Time you don't spend having to kill them is more time you can spend smashing breakables for good loot.
Gave it a full whirl but its more of a waste at the moment need a perma pet that we can level
I hope they improve this. We don't ARK-like features but the ability to summon something would be better that what in the game currently.
I agree though under the beast master traits they should allow for "herding" of goats, rabbits for a farm maybe add sheep to feed and sheer for whool to spin into yarn/thread for padding and fabrics.

Could be like
Goats for meat/milk
Rabbits for fur/meat
Sheep for whool/meat
Wolves for defense/meat/bones
Those little parrot birds for eggs and feathers ect.
Seems like a necromancer like mechanic. Requires enemies around to bolster your team. Though, when you get to a new area you probably need to tame more as the NPCs probably have a hard time following you around while jumping, gliding and using your hook-shot.
Hopefully the entire skill tree gets more fleshed out than it is right now...its all pretty basic right now...would be nice to see actual play style defining skills in all the trees. Almost everything right now just basically pumps the damage of basic attack skills that every character has by default.
Toobad it doesn't work for scavenger matrons who summon wolves...
well, I find the skill quite useful. No more annoying spiders, rats, flying beast, wolfs etc. You can savely explore the map and when you start a fight, oftentimes comes an animal to help you. It's nice especially with the flying shriekers in Kindlewastes. Those bring havoc to a camp of scavengers. Watch and enjoy :D
It felt useless to me other than having less enemies pestering me, but in Nomad Highlands I'm finding it highly useful. Less terrain messing up the AI and the cats pack a real punch.
One question I haven’t seen answered. Does the wyverns in the desert count? Pet wyverns 🙃
I took it on the way to the extra 5 minutes in shroud skill. I did find that if I attacked an animal, it turned the passive effect off (animals attacked me again) until I logged out. Also, the Vulkan did not help me fight their champions (and helped the champion if I fought back against it)
