I think with tweaks it could add elements of planning and preparation.
Idk, I'm personally someone who effing hates that games like Skyrim removed it. I get it, it can be simply inconvenient... But There was an element of progression and risk/reward to using your fav weapon in Morrowind for example.
Idk. I think without any durability system it just feels goofy and low consequence.
Well, I guess I'll find out.
When out exploring and running around I can easily go through 3 weapons... then plop an altar down go repair n come back......
if you are just boss farming or chest farming using altar and logging in and out to respawn chest/bosses its not an issue cause you can just go repair n come back but its a bit immersion breaking when not one but 3 of your trusty legendary weapons keep crapping out on you!
I guess it depends on how you play if this bothers you much or not too.
You could only repair your hard-earned/crafted gear a limited amount of times before.. poof, it's gone. Taking up a slot in your inventory, providing no bonuses, and can't be repaired or deconstructed for materials. (I think decon was added later after 95% of the beta players left, though.. and again, implemented very poorly IIRC.)
It was that shoddy implementation of durability that killed the game, all because Red5 didn't want to listen to the beta testers. :)
Is the hammer an an ancient type made of ancient techniques?
Because if you're comparing a modern hammer to one made in a time like the game takes place in...you're the one being ridiculous.
Ancient hammers very often broke, it took dozens of them just to build a single home.
If it's fun or not is a matter of opinion, but your example is just ludicrous.
You don't even have to spend resources to repair like most of them, so you're already beating the curve.
Any more and they may as well just turn on easy mode.
In regards to enshrouded I do agree that melee weapons could use some more durability.
By the time your stuff breaks your rested buff is also probably running low and you’ll be ready for a quick trip home anyway. Not to mention you’ll usually be nearly full on inventory by then too
