Moving an upgraded flame altar.
Can you?

So im building inside a mountain and i need to relocate my UPGRADED altar deeper,is there a way tp pick it up and re-place it on the ground or i have to destroy it and build a new one?

If i destroy it and i make a new one i guess i have to reupgrade it all back, right?

You need to extinguish the flame (destroy it), then place a new one. You will need to upgrade the altar again to get it back to where it was. All the placed structures will stay in place for a while, but make sure not to logoff or restart the server before you place a new altar otherwise any structures placed will be lost.

Very curious about the answer to this as well.

altar range upgrades are lost. the flame level is global for the world and stays the way it is for good.

The altar is lost. Period. Did what you are asking and it diapeared. Was unable to pick it up.
You can only stop the flame from burning after wich time it removes itself.
Basicly you have to start from scratch when you do it.
For me, I have made the base at the starting area my main base and use the towers and other altars as portals. (I do not enhance those. Just build a small base close by with a workbench so I can repair my stuff and relax if I need to wait for the morning)
Some say the starting area is useless etc. but in reality it is a vast flat area suited for a big base. You can create a small village there with buildings for each of the 5 compagnions if you wish. (made 3 buildings myself + my main building)
So what is it players wanna "move" there base? its pointless sins you can port arround.

the size upgrade material is very easy to get and the alter itself is only 6 stone, imo it is a null issue.

I mean if u rush grab the alchemist tho mabey take about an hour to get him, u may need grapling hook and glider wings, and shield and health potions, but yeah grab him and he can make shroud cored easy, there easy to come by shroud spores droped by shroud monsters just farm the level 1 ones and pick up all the little shroud mushrooms for shroud liquid, you can probably farm 10 shroud cores in about an hour that's enough for 3 or 4 alter upgrades. So don't even need much take alter with u on the joinery and a bench and the alchemist and your sorted when u have the cores made go find proper base spot lay it down upgrade it. And u can do all that before even doing a single mission

You can place your new altar first and expand it to the size you want and then delete the old altar. As others have said the Altar level is tied to the world and is not lost. You only lose the expansion (base size) which is only shroud cores. Those flying wraiths drop them in the shroud. There's a place in the shroud east of Revelwood spire where there are three of them. Use a bow and pull them one at a time, and they are easy. Leave the shroud, log off and next time you're in game those three will be back. My largest base is maxed. I think the upgrades go 2, 5, 10. So you need 17 to max a base.

Not sure why peps are all damn got to upgrade all again cause you don't.......the "strengthen flame upgrade" is tied to the world like how NPC are tied to it and it global for all of them, even if you place another altar once you max that out... it's maxed out for all altar.

It's an important distinction because this global one is the one that required more stuff like heads etc etc and is the harder of the two to gather the mats for. Just be sure to always have one altar down somewhere and you are good.

The upgrade you lose is the "increase building area" upgrade which only cost those blue cores which are easy to get...you can even craft them.

It is NOT needed to have all the upgrades ready, as long as you are placing the new altar within the area of the one you want to replace.

Place another altar in the new position you want. The new position has to be within the area of the one you want to adjust. Upgrade that new altar's range to the level of the old one with Shroud Cores.

Now extinguish the flame of the old one. The new altar will automatically be on the same level as the other one, including all the upgrades done on the old altar.

Can you just use another alter to extend your range? I was able to snap a new foundation here to the older alter foundation. If you have issues snapping try using 1x1 blocks and then proceed. I have 8 alters so using another one here to extend the range was np. I suspect you could do the same thing and tie together the walls. Depending on how deep you want to go. you could even start 80 out so the final lvl 4 alter 160x160x160 is maximized... Do that 7 times and send me a pic lol. Oh also have you dug deep enough and found the white zone lol see pic below

Yes, you can another flame altar nearby, and have their area of affect overlap. Just follows the same rules as placing any altar. Has to be a certain amount of level terrain around it, or you get an error message.

Yeah, i mean my ss shows that its possible and easy enough... And having 8 alters available... just seems easier then trying to relocate just one. but idk maybe some people like need need all 8 ;)
