NO multiple tombstones???
I lost several of my tombstones after a certain amount of time!
I thought you could have multiple gravestones?

I don't know what the mechanic is that causes your tombstone to disappear, but I have had multiple tombstones in the world at the same time.

I've had 3 at a time I dunno what the other rules are I haven't died more then that in a row.

I do know that if you die and don't have any perishable items that you won't create a tombstone (sort of "why bother if there's nothing to get").

Its one thing to have tombstones. Buts its best to not assume it stays forever and treat it like its storage. :steamhappy: I think they go away after a time.

I am happy that they are gone after some time, I would also love if you could delete the ones you have no intention to retrieve. They often block the sight to you destination.
Or we need a system where you can hide some markes, so you see only the one you need at this moment.

Since the world resets every log out or every half hour that you're not in the vicinity, I would assume the tombstones disappear when the area resets.

you have 30 minutes to get your death totem or it's gone. Gotta get running :)

Can you point to where this information is provided?
I know one time I died where my tombstone was on this tiny ledge at the bottom of a huge cliff directly over a large field of lava. I died several times trying to fly down to it. Then I got the bright idea to stand directly above my tombstone on the top of the cliff and use my pickaxe to dig down to my tombstone. It worked, but the entire process took over two hours from the time I originally died. In another example, I died and logged off right away to eat dinner, logged back on and tombstone was gone. Only a few minutes of game time had passed. Other times I have logged off and back on, and my tombstone was still there.
It may be that there is a timer that starts once you are a certain distance away from your tombstone.
Whatever the case, if there is a timer, it would be nice if there was a timer in the character panel counting down to let us know time remaining. Right now it seems random even if it is not.

I think the game resets areas when you log out / in immediately The 30 minute timer probably starts to run as soon as you walk away far enough from an area.
These are only assumptions, but could describe both scenarios you experienced.

bring an alter with you always. If you die, well think about it. At some point in the game when the backpack is full and you are not in the shroud, go back home, drop it off, repair, head back. Keep important items in your toolbar, then head in strong knowing what you are getting yourself into. It's a game, a great game, the best game for a long long time. You need a reliable server and a decent machine. I spent hours in a situation where I jump down to a stupid location and then I died after that. Bottom line I died because there was no where to go. You always want to die from a location you can recover from and if you can't well, then you lose your stuff. Just make good choices and it will all work out. Back to your question.

The information is not provided, you need to go to discord and talk to the managing team for enshrouded or take part in their questionnaire when it is available. Lots of information. Just know you have 30 minutes to get back to your "death totem" before it's gone. Make wise choices and no one thinks about it until after. You get far enough, know enough, out of the shroud, well, go back to base having left an alter at the entrance, drop off your stuff. come back and run it quick to the point you left and then move forward. You'll be fine. If you have any questions, join discord and ask. Someone will get back to you. Don't give up, it's too good to stop, but don't rush either. It's not about the best gear and getting through it quickly. It's about the adventure and seeing everything the Dev's have worked so hard to show you for you to see. It's amazing if you take the time and you should not be in the hallows at level 20 enemies when you are lower then that and complain. There is so much to do to get to max level and the proper skills and then you just work your way through it. It won't be easy alone, but it can be done.

As long as you stay in the area, it doesn't reset, so digging down to your tombstone would prevent the reset. The whole world not in a build area resets the instant you log off, so tombstone is gone once you log off.

I stopped caring about my tombstones. Has something changed? Keep the few items that do drop at your base. Like runes.

A couple of days ago, I was just at the end of the Nomad Highlands Hallow Halls when the game froze while I was getting to my tombstone (so two thirds of all my stuff was on my corpse). My backpack (fully expanded) was full of four hours of smashing every vase and looting every corpse. For whatever reason when I rebooted the game, I was back at my base with all of my stuff. My point is you can head out with an empty pack, but if your mission is to fill it, you can lose a lot of stuff.
