What is the name of the quest that leads to this? He mentions that he needs it but I don't seem to have been given a quest for it.

Well you don't have the quest yet , you can try to get some copper ore and that may trigger the quest, if you are playing multiplayer game someone may have done the quest already that could be another reason.

That's isn't true. You can't make copper bars without a smelter. Exploring revelwoods and getting copper ore is enough.

No because I had copper ore and the quest didn't unlock until I found a bar in the revelwoods tower.

I have both copper ore and copper bars and still no quest, my blacksmith is reccomending I go and find the crucible but I have no quest.

No copper does nothing to get it. but youtuby vids do wll at least send you right direction.

go and get that smelt thing in that one cave. its behind some dirt. had equal issue.

I found almost every single crafted material before i ever crafted them. The local tower will give you a bunch of all the resources for that biome. I'd crafted half my late game gear before i could make the materials for it.

As for quests just look for the NPC's icon in your quest log, or visit a tower to get it going.
