DEVS: Please implement a base defence mechanic
Enjoying my time in Enshrouded and i especially like the versatility of the building. However, i really feel that the game is poorer for the lack of any real motivation for base building, other than to be creative and to maybe build up a larger comfort level.

I feel the game should have some sort of mechanic that means you need to defend your base/s. I think both the base defence systems in Conan and Valhiem are good examples of this working well, and even though i feel the base building mechanic is inferior than Enshrouded in both those games, i enjoy it more, because i have a legitimate reason for my build. I'm getting to the point in Enshrouded's building where i'm thinking "whats the point?" I might as well just make a big square box and dump my workstations and comfort items in it and then I've achieved everything that the game sets out for me in relation to building

I sincerely hope that the Devs have something planed for future updates

Or maybe an optional feature, so PVE base attacks can be toggled on or off? but with some sort of reward system for those brave enough to toggle it on, like some exclusive loot or something like?

i love randomly loosing hours of game progress because of random enemy spam or otherwise gettin interoupted

if they make it optional i don't mind
but having any bonus for having it would annoy people

The devs have made a game they wanted to make - they've had a vision, a design in mind, etc. You come here and say you want the game to be what you think the game should be not what the devs have designed it to be. So you want simply a different game. Why can't you play a different game? I heard the Forest is a pretty good survival game. Why not play it instead?

Well, it's a suggestion and while i don't care about it and don't want it in my game, EA is meant to give suggestions also. It's nothing that would change the game as much depending how it's implemented and maybe it's something the devs have already in mind for endgame.

I see no problem making suggestions.

Lol, the devs have put an official site for us to suggest content, so its what we do.

Gonna be optional, no need for you to over react.

Their vision includes considering our suggestions and implement some. Maybe dont come to the forums if you cant tolerate it

You are just flaming, stop it. Nice try by the way but devs actually mentioned they are also looking at feedback here: https://steamcommunity.com/app/1203620/discussions/0/4142816945494753515/
You seem to be exactly the type of person I described in my post.
MGMons Jan 30, 2024 @ 1:33pm
No, I'm saying that the fundamentals of the game are already there, there's a vision for it. Wanting to change the fundamentals is by definiton to want a different game, with a different vision. (The game is obviously not a survival game in the commonly used sense. It's an action RPG with crafting and building. You want to make it a survival game. What if the devs don't want it to be a survival game?)

The devs are listening to feedback indeed. They have also said that they expect the game to get out of EA in about a year. Do you realistically expect them to ditch everything else and jump on changing the fundamentals of their game? I personally don't think so. There are many bugs to fix and lots of other improvements to the fundamentals. Even if they do it, it's likely to be after release as the DLC or expansion.

I personally don't want the game to be hardcore survival but I ALSO want the building to have more functional meaning. So far it has some but is rudimentary: comfort level is good, artisans' requirements to be sheltered is fine but I would expect more interesting stuff.

For me it's one of the things I appreciate in Enshrouded... no generic base defense mechanic. Stopped playing both Valheim and Conan exactly because of this. How about we have one game that doesn't have base defense mechanic?

Agreed. In fact how about we have one game that has good base building and crafting not locked behind annoying combat and corpse fetching mechanics too. I'll buy that game.
JohnnySilver Jan 30, 2024 @ 1:42pm
There's more to games than killing ♥♥♥♥ and dying. Or there ought to be.

The 5th most voted suggestion: Base Raids - Optional[enshrouded.featureupvote.com]
Just accept the fact that this is a highly requested feature and attacking the people who are interested in it isn't going to change anything, plus no one is asking to make it mandatory.

Exactly this. Some people think this is like a heated debate competition, and that the winner will be able to impose their view to the others or something, lol.

No, I will keep insisting the EA is for this, suggesting features, and the official feature upvote is for that matter.

Some intolerant people are twisting arguments in the hopes they can "close" this debate and prevent us from suggesting it.

Nah, its a suggestion made in the right place, and made as an optional thing.

Dont need to say this is out of the devs vision, you are so afraid of others getting whatever they suggest that probably didnt even visited the featuee upvote site.

Point 4 clearly states it:

"We make the final call. Getting high votes does not mean we can or will make a suggestion happen. We are listening to suggestions and taking the ones we think will fit the vision we have for Enshrouded."

We make suggestions, they listen and decide if they happen and if it fits their vision.

https://enshrouded.featureupvote.com/suggestions/523762/base-raids-optional

4.2k votes, the 5th most wanted suggestion for the game.

I will keep insising with this, cause some people act like the "suggestions police" and feel like attacking those who are favorable to this suggestion.

Also, every time you bump this thread with your intolerant messages, I share the feature upvote site, and some hundred people more vote in favor to it. So keep it up!

on that site there should be a vote up and a vote down

just my 2 cents

LOL

At current pathfinding AI, the base defense would be a joke
Mile Feb 3, 2024 @ 9:39pm
Raids or an option to have them would be cool. I liked them in Valheim, made me have to think of creative ways to defend my base and how I built it up.
PlagueBrain Feb 3, 2024 @ 10:14pm
Yes, I too enjoy every ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ survivalcraft game being exactly the same.
