Destruction of derelict houses

Base building is my favorite element in games like these and Enshrouded does this very well. My only concern so far is that the only nice, flat LARGE surface I found so far is the starter area just below the initial spawn. Every other juicy spot seems to be taken by a derelict house, like where Peaceful Acres are.

I noticed it was ok to put a Light stone thing there to claim the spot but then I tried dismantling the house to make my own and with my pickaxe, I expect to be dead of old age before I'm done. Is there a faster way to "renovate" these areas?

Because aside from a few rats and some breakables for base materials, once you've seen a house, well...

I noticed that if you use the build hammer you can dismantle with right click. But sadly its only with the small block on the top left row. So you need to dismantle block by block. Havent been able to dismantle with the bigger templates.

Once you claim the area, use the very top bar with building hammer. Select the largest option, and you can use remove on the building walls and floors. It will also refund the wall type to your inventory if you have found the blueprint. Rubble will have to be mined away.

I just tried. ALL top row icons work. Use the one on the right, it's super fast!!

Also, I just noticed this game has an UNDO feature for building. This is absolute genius. It's perfect! Thank you!!

You can also use the largest Foundation block with just rough stone, place the foundation over whatever you want to remove and then delete it. This is the method I use to clear terrain it makes a nice flat surface on all sides and is by far the fastest method once you get used to doing it. You can also use blocks as an elevator if you scroll them close to you jump and place them similar to how it's done in minecraft.
