Scavenger Matron is impossible to fight in melee

She just barfs on you and then you die. I made a full tank character, I've boosted my constitution as much as I can, and any time I get close I just die to an attack that has basically no warning.

I was able to take her out completely cheesily with no challenge by just using a bow and bombs and letting her get stuck on some terrain in the building she was in, but this felt pretty cheap and it feels incorrect to gate main story progression behind a fight that a melee build can't feasibly win.

Ya the enemies damage out put is way to much. pretty much every boss fight i don't dare engage and try and cheese and avoid there one hit kills

I beat her in melee. I died maybe twice. All about timing dodge rolls behind her.

Historically melee is much harder vs range in most games

Actually it is very easy to beat the matron. Walk sideways constantly then dodge roll her attack and get to her back and then deal backstab damage until she start winding up for her next attack and then start moving sideways again. It's very easy when you get the hang of it. Get in close and just side step until she is animation locked. Once you figure it out you'll see.

I got lucky figthing her - If you notice, the middle of where she is, is clay. Drop a few bombs on it with her in the middle, and the floor vanishes on her, and she is suddenly in a hole, and cant get up. From there, use your favorite ranged weapon to pling her to death.
Accidentially very easy!

Lock on and roll, prioritize avoidance and hitting her back when you can.
