Shroud Question?
Question: Can the Shroud be pushed away and is that permanent or temporary?

fwiw I'd really like to see that kind of progression where you're impacting the world as you progress forward, both recruiting NPC's and growing your residence -> village -> small keep as well as pushing the shroud back to increase the safety zone and if feels like you're impacting the world.

even with other players joining you, most aren't going to have the full 16 and related to the above it would be nice to see the world be repopulated, areas with people and the forests with more deer and other animals and less shroud creatures etc.

Yes, there are red glowing tree things in many of the shrouded areas, and you can chop them down and turn the world back to normal. I'm not sure how this progresses, but typically chopping the tree down creates a small pocket of normal in amongst the shroud, allowing you to TP home.

ok thanks for responding. so it does really sound like at least on a micro scale there is some "push back" of the shroud in some areas.

Unfortunately the red tree doesn't stay chopped. When you log back in the tree is back with the shroud.

No "pushback" at all. Shroudtrees return after relogging.
Only change is that you can walk into higher "Tier" shroud-areas when you upgrade your flame, but the world literally doesnt change and always resets when you relog.

Hmmm, so we are to conquer the shroud by not actually conquering the shroud. Perfectly clear to me now. Thanks.

It's still early access but that's a bummer when they do things like this where you will never really "win" you farm it forever, that's why I like the sim settlements mod for fallout 4 it gives you a post story objective, raiders still raid but you build up settlements until you take over the map and then its just a matter of perfecting how you want each settlement to look and function i.e. one makes food another weapons, then the fort is typically the big base, and not that fallout4 is multiplayer/CoOp in any way but the NPC's showing up, growing the settlements into towns, having NPC companions along with you makes that world feel alive and that you're impacting and changing it in some way.

In this format it would be pushing the Shroud away and restoring the land. Maybe there will be some component of triggers for that within the story that they're still working on. This will be a fun game to play in for a bit but without that extra bit it will have a limited shelf life for me.

Yeah I 200% want to remove the shroud permanently as well. It would give a sense of progression and make the world beautiful again, heck just give world options for a reset.

At least along main pathways would make sense but then we don't really know what the game is all about at this point as we are all beginners. Someone says we can get to lvl 25 but iirc the real top is 50 but that could be some other game. lol
