Hmm however my game says version 487046 after patching today. Unless I am still missing the latest patch somehow...

Why should it follow that format? They have build numbers to track which build they are working on. Very normal. You can always imagine that there is a 0. in front of the number. Same same.

Seeing "487046" doesn't tell me easily how completed the game is. 0.25, 0.5 e.t.c. show effectively a percentage toward 1.0. A build number is fine and all but I just prefer that format.

even in point number formats no games ever do .24 .50 ,75 bam complete.... 99% of the time there's 40 odd updates before 1.0 ...the numbers really mean nothing.

nowadays not even the version number says anything anymore, since most devs don't even know what alpha is, what beta and when full release. many jump from alpha 0.2 to full 1.0 and others act like 1.0 would still be beta...
