Backpack and inventory management
Anyone else find the "Your backpack is full" message almost demoralising enough to quit the game early on? If you need to carry around all of those building materials in your tiny little backpack then you should at least be able to drop stuff and pick it up later instead of deleting things you spent all that time collecting. I could rant on, and I know that you will be able to upgrad the BP later and that you will get containers later, but personally I am not playing to be heading back to camp every 3-5 minutes so I don't lose stuff. I would actually like to adventure.

Yes, the small backpack upgrade does help a lot, but it comes too late, for people that want to take their time and explore it could easily be 10-20 hours before they wander over and unlock the hunter NPC, by which time they will most likely be very fed up with the starter inventory size.

I didn't have too much issue with it, because of the way that I play this game.

I actually plan where I want to go, and then i head there, and then teleport back to my base, to drop off my stuff in the various storage boxes, reapply my rest bonus, refill my arrows potions and stuff, repair my equipment, and upgrade if I can. and then plan for the next trip.

But I guess if you play the game like an adventure game, thus always wondering around like a nomad, and neglect the base and survival stuff, I can see that being a problem as you just said with the full back pack problem.

One way to solve the deleting of your stuff is to use the multiple fire alters that you can build as temporary way points to teleport to and from and deleting them once your done.

You got two alters at the start of the game. So you can use one for your main base, and use the other as a temporary teleport spot.

What I mean is, when your out and about, and your backpack is getting full, you can craft a alter on the spot, set it down(I found we can set these anywhere that isnt enshrouded), and then teleport to your main base, deposit your items in your main base storage to clear your backpack, and then, teleport back to that temporary alter you placed while you were adventuring, and then once your back where you left off, You can delete the temporary alter and keep on adventuring.

Thats what ive been doing so I havent had any issues with backpack stuff. i now have 4 alters after upgrading the flame/alter so this only made it easier.

Also, the carpenter magic storage chest are a friggin GOD SEND when crafting.

Yeah it's terrible. A backpack should be available at the start of the game. One that you can actually see on the characters back, once equipped.

I'm curious why people think a backpack that you can see on your character is important. I never cared one way or the other if I could see it, because I'm just using it, not making it a fashion statement. The one game I played that did let you see your backpack, Outward, also made is so your backpack screws up your doge roll, as well it would. There are some realism aspects that I don't really want to deal with in every game.

Comes down to how you play. I'm used to prioritising what I keep and returning to base/stash or just dumping stuff depending on the game. Managing inventory is pretty standard. I've played a lot of standard old school rpgs, arpgs and adventure games and inventory management is usually a part of them. You can't keep everything.

I get more bothered by weight - half empty backpack/inventory but max weight. But it is what it is

Don't need to see the backpack, the clothing and accessories are whatever the game does.

Didnt have that issue. Just carry an altar with you at all times and you can easily teleport back when inventory is full and get back. But tbf some resources get pretty worthless rather fast.

I'd like the option to be able to drop items on the ground without losing them. Sometimes I misremember how much available space I had left in a chest, and need to make a new chest real quick.

I had no issues early on. Make a base with plenty of storage and drop off all the unnecessary stuff at the base. I only keep weapons, tools and consumables on me when I head out (and usually my crafting hammer in case I am gonna make a new base).

The OP lost me at "If you need to carry around all of those building materials in your tiny little backpack"

I wonder if streamers make the game look bad? Most streamers I've watched absolutely refuse to go home and dump their inventory, and will instead struggle around forever with a full backpack, even though they're solo and could build an altar. We can build as many chests as we want, so there's no excuse for it besides stubbornness.

Been watching Dragon's Dogma 2 players struggle with inventory, and vastly prefer this system over that one!

Exactly, You start off with TWO altars. One for homebase and one for "take a quick trip home" which is pretty easy to do. You can drop it almost anywhere and just teleport back and dump the stuff. It is a typical survival thing. you started off with little (in this case very little) and gather everything from the ground up.
