I only built one building so far, and it was pretty easy I thought, but then I'm a veteran of Minecraft and No man's Sky.
Watch out for those daft small roof tiles. There are much better roofing options in the main build section.
1. Theres a few tips I can give you for organizing this stuff.
A. create storage boxes for stashing specific items. Like a box for food, one for weapons, one for armor, one for specific materials. So when you need a certain item, you know you have a box or a few boxes with that item in it.
B. Use the other fire alters besides the one at your base, as a temporary teleport spot. When your adventuring and your bag is getting full, craft a fire alter(5 stone) and place it down. teleport to your main base, deposit your item to clear your bag, then teleport back to the fire alter you just made, and delete it, and then carry on with your adventure where you left off.
C. This is where the carpenter craftmen comes in at since he can craft the magic storage chest, which makes it so anything thats placed in the magic box shows up in the crafting menus when your crafting. No longer have to manually take items out of storage and put it in your backpack when you want to craft.
2. Start small and simple, only building exactly what you need. build one square building to fit all your craftsmen, a bed, and a fireplace. You can just place all your workbenchs and storage chest outside on the ground and call it a day, and only come back there to drop items off in your storage, craft stuff and reapply rest buff. and if you use the fire alter teleport like i stated above, then main base location is irrelevant as you will be teleporting back there anyway.
I made my base underground by using the 4x4 block to delete dirt and made a large underground facility where my base is at. Nothing above ground besides some stairs leading to the base entrance and a torch as a marker for where the stairs is located.
