World reset should probably be removed
or at least add an option that makes the world stay the way you left it last.

- Currently you can exploit hella due to this (tbh I'm not complaining its just an oversight)

- It would be cooler If the areas I mined and enemies I killed stayed dead even after I reopen the world.

The reason outside zones reset over time is partly for replayability reasons, but also because it really helps save on performance for both servers and game clients after long play sessions.

Perhaps we might consider some kind of toggle in the future, but it would come at pretty significant long-term performance costs for your save, so it would probably not be the default.

How would that be boring?

Actually being able to clear locations is way more interesting then mindlessly killing the same enemy every time you walk passed their base.

how is walking past dead, empty areas that you've cleared any more interesting?

a toggle when you set up your server for either respawn everything or maybe simply respawn enemies.
K4Dragoon Jan 26, 2024 @ 9:29am
only issue with that would be is progression and resources for building and crafting

now bosses and such yes only for the players who beat them while others can still enter the area who havnt on multiplayer servers

Because you actually accomplished something, so the goal of map clearing over nothing at all. Its like playing Assassins Creed or Far Cry and they want you to clear a base just for it to get filled up again in 2 minutes, its hella lame.

As a side the game already feels empty even with the enemy camps resetting because personally Id rather have NPCs roaming around (not tons just a few randomly) and towns.

make it a toggle
as some people like it and some don't

if they just removed it a lot of people would complain

Well yeah other games have already solved these issues by making craftable boss spawning or difficulty modes.

Resources wouldnt be a problem either since you could just plant trees or other things. Also have resources come back after a certain point of time or if you want to make it keep it as is rn as an option. Also just make its so people actually have to play the game like a survival instead of borderline creative mode.

Yeah always like when servers can be completely customizable, the more options the better imo.

Thats what I'm saying just have an option for it would be cool at least. Not really into the change what people like because others dont. But having an option that actually makes the player feel like their impacting the world would be great.

This is one of the features I'm actually really happy about. Valheim you had to made resource worlds you went to just to pickup wood, stone, etc so that you didn't deforest your main world. This feature is great as the world remains undisturbed outside of your bases. It has a great story concept as well, with the shroud returning the world back to how it was before the flameborn interfered.

Valheim had this feature and no reason why it couldn't be implemented here. I don't want to have to keep killing the same enemies over and over again, and when all the stuff you forage respawns endlessly there no reason for it to disappear at all once you gather it, just leave the bushes up and let people click the same bush 1000 times for materials. Otherwise, there's no point to ever having resources disappear in the game world.

So either it stays gone when the world loads back up, like Valheim, or it just doesn't deplete when someone gathers from a node. Otherwise all you do is have players load the world, grab the stuff, save, load the world again over and over. Just cut the middle step and have it one way or the other. If the resources never deplete then I know I'll park this one for sure, because there's never a reason to really explore to find new material locations and resources, which is a huge part of any of these type games.

For those who say "Valheim had this and we had to make a resource world to get stuff for our main world!!111!!!" I'd say.. No you didn't. Valheim world were HUGE and it's highly doubtful you chopped every tree, dug every tar pit, etc, etc on a single world unless you're trying to make a world-spanning building of some sort. Otherwise there was always some place new to explore and exploit to get the materials needed. It forces people to explore and exploit stuff, which is the nature of these type games.

Happy medium ground, make it a toggle so those who want the true explore experience can do so and leave resources gone when gathered, and those who want more of a creative mode where they never need to go hunt for resources can have it their way instead.

This spoils the immersion in the game, all loot, all secrets, all chests are filled anew! It's just terrible! even in Scotland, there was no such thing!

Pretty insignificant thing to whing over.

this spoils the dive) you haven't realized yet that rare prey is reborn in secrets) It makes the world look like you weren't in it.

Its kinda the main component of what the game is so I wouldn't call it insignificant tbh.

At the moment this isnt a survival game but a light rpg with survival mechanics set on creative mode.
