Private sessions?

This looks like a fun game to play with my partner. Did this game like session base games? Where I can create a session just for my partner and myself? And possibly with a few more friends in the future.

when making a server choose host and set a password for it that way randos dont jump in it

Is there an option for just solo or does one always "host"? If you can solo can you then change to hosting or do you have to start anew? I think I understand that once bosses are killed or whatever quests done in the session/server/whatever it's called it is not player based atm anyway. Thousands of hours in Valheim and NMS but thinking about trying this one. EA is so much fun watching game mature.

Yes u can make an offline session

Not sure interested in offline, just solo as an option but maybe it's just putting a password and calling it good. In other games, it's an option. Don't need no Rust environment with rando trolls dropping by for a little mayhem.
