CONAN EXILES VS ENSHROUDED
I have never played games like ARK, Valheim, or Conan Exiles. However, I recently bought Enshrouded, and I really enjoyed it. Today, I came across the Conan Exiles page on Steam, and it seems to be similar to the game I purchased. Both games feature building, bosses, battles, and exploration. Now I'm contemplating whether it's better to play Enshrouded, which is in early access, or Conan Exiles, which has been released. What do you think?

Thank you all for the detailed response; that's what I'll do – I'll try playing this and then move on to other games! I'm just afraid that if I progress and build a lot, my saves might not be available in the future due to upcoming updates. But let's see how it goes!

The game is plagued with bugs that have been around for years, but the dev team is priority working their next project (hence the battle pass funding).

I'm sincerely hoping the Enshrouded devs give the green light to steam workshop modding. If they do, I see that pulling the vast majority of Conan players away to this game.

I had fun in Conan for a long time, but it was because of mods and friends. Not because of the core game. Enshrouded has been way more fun for me so far as a vanilla game.

conan is an adult game with adult themes. slavery, nudity, workshop items add sex. it's full of lovecraftian stuff because that's what conan lore is.

it's a much more dense game. lots of stuff to do. plenty of exploration. if the first paragraph didn't scare you off or even got you interested then yeah buy conan exiles.

you may want to check out the workshop for chapter 3 combat fix if you do since the devs decided keyboard and mouse players are cheating somehoe and made our characters look like idiots

Honestly, while of the same general genre, these 3 games are actually "apples and oranges" different in gameplay.

Valheim would probably be the closest comparison to Enshrouded, from the limited time I have thus far spent playing Enshrouded. But Valheim is low-poly.

Conan Exiles is far superior to Enshrouded and Ark imo.

Never compare - never complain ... maybe I will open I thread: FIFA2022 VS ENSHROUDED?

Conan definitely is the most polished of the genre.
The only real fault I can find with Conan Exiles is that it lacks the mechanic that connects the player so strongly to the dino tames in Ark.
But all the little annoyances that need addressing in Ark just do not exist in Conan. They got the details correct right out of the gate.

You can't not really compare a game who is live for years with tons of DLC to a game, which is 2 days in a EARLY ACCESS phase? ;)

Definitely not in the least a reasonable comparison between Conan and Enshrouded.
Slynx Jewel Jan 26, 2024 @ 12:58am
you can't terramorpth in conan. but then again you can't do much of permanent terramorphing in enshrouded either due to reset mechanics
the world is static in both games
you can complete conan and escape. leading you to a finished game(will need to start anew). you can't complete enshrouded yet.
crafting and building is quite similar. but in enshrouded basebuilding lead no purpose. in conan you have to protect your base cuz there are raids on your base (they'll destroy structures and kill your slaves)
in conan you can use mounts, slaves(to fight for you), swim underwater and climb cliffs. in enshrouded you can't.
dungeons in conan are more diverse and unique...but once you know how to do them they are pretty boring. just skip everything to boss area and kill it. ignore the rest.

(also dlc in conan are useless and mostly cosmetic except island)

conan has only 1 relevant dlc. the isle.
everything else is cosmetics with some added stuff which is not required to play the game.

on the other hand conan has mods. tons of them and some are quite good and expand the game a lot

Certainly he can, theres no law against that. SImular game, comparisons are fine. Conan has been out for years now, doesnt mean its perfect, and it certainly isnt, and it serves as a good guide to compare this to it. Same for Valheim, its also been out for years, its still in EA...is that also a nono in your brain?

Knock it off.

Look, the best thing about Survival/Sandbox is that you always get drawn back to play again after some time away. So replay value is extremely high if the game is good.

Well he/she can if he/she is talking about the the core game-play however comparing bugs, QoL, performance and content is a little unfair taking into account each the length of time each game has been released.

I've had terribly bad experience with Conan Exiles' community. I've played for around 4000 hours on RP and survival servers, experienced a lot of senseless hate, overachieving, powergaming and bad practices.

Funcom, Conan Exiles' developer, with passion fights against its modding community and lets in game-breaking bugs (disappearing Crom Coins, server-wide Thrall disappearances). It could be a great game really, with splendidly coded stuffs, but it's the people who are developing and playing the game that are the true problem.

Cherish new things we get. Give Enshrouded a good chance. :guardian:
