Which this is great to find out, i saw a really awesome location because of all the village stuff there and a church looking structure, i thought of maybe building there but decided against it.
I then logged off completly and loaded the game up fresh. Everything i had changed was STILL intact. The Tavern is not in a named area but it is a prefab.
So i suppose this would need more extensive testing or someone from the developers taking a stand on the matter.
Interesting and unfortunate. I'll have to do some more testing myself when I get on to see if I have the same results in un named prefabs and if other named areas reset despite being within the area of the flame alter or if it is just Longkeep.
it also might be different if its a permanent location that contains enemies, which most named locations do.
this is not true in the slightest
i'm gonna make a hobbit hole for my next base!
