My base is gone
I logged back in and my fast travel spot was gone. I ran to where my base was supposed to be and there were a few walls still standing that I had put up, but the flame alter, 90% of my base, and all of the material I had in storage are gone. So much time gone. Anyone else have the same problem and is there a way to fix this?

Maybe my strategy is flawed?

I still have my main base in the starting area (My Altar is Level 4 now). Never had the need to build another proper base and move all my stuff and NPC's to it. I Just take a spare altar with me when exploring a new zone/area, plonk it down somewhere near to where I need to be, clear the area of quests and PoI's (port back to first base, dump all loot) port back to altar, pick it up and move on to next quest/location.

I don't know others, but that's also what i'm doing. I use altars as outposts to explore zones and complete quests (and to avoid having to walk so much each time) The problem is that even lonely altars without base are not properly saved and disappear, which also means that my char moves to the main base and i have to walk all the way back to where i was.

And a little update from my previous comment: my last altars are being saved, finally! After building any new one, i used to go back to my base to dump the loot and quit there. When i loaded back, any new altar was gone. So instead of that, now before logging out i'm teleporting back to the newest altar, and only then i quit to main menu. After loading again, my altar is still there. I have confirmed this with my 2 new altars (i have now 5 on the map, my base and the rest for fast travel)

Once each new altar is properly saved on quit, it remains that way no matter the location so it seems to be deleted before that, when saving on quit it seems. Idk what the world reset can do to a base, but i would say that the problem is the game not properly saving an altar as protected terrain so after loading, it can be fully or partially destroyed by the terrain reset.

That's good to know. I will keep an eye out for it. I managed to glide past some red fog tonight into a zone that was 5 or so levels higher than me and drop my temp altar quickly, so will be interesting to see if it's still there tomorrow. Right in the middle of a road too :)

I'm having the same problem. Build an altar near the Farmer's Vault. Altar and anything built in its zone disappear upon reloading back into the game.

lol i tend to place my altars on crossroads if i can but not exactly on top of a road.

Btw, i still can confirm that teleporting to a new created base and leaving my char there before quitting to menu seems to have solved my problems. I am testing a bit more and see if i can make the game delete a new altar again lol this time adding more stations or even some walls to a new base and see what happens.

I hope devs already know what to do to solve this, i still believe it has to do with the save file system (world being separated from char progress, world being reset each time except on specific protected altars depending on their range of protection, etc) not properly saving the status of each base and on loading, the game's terrain regenerates over a base.

I have placed 7 alters in various places since I had the one disappear and haven't had any issues. Maybe just that one area is bugged.

But i managed to build an altar on the exact same spot it disappeared last time (near farmer's vault, precisely, pass the east little mountain) and i sill have it so it can't be a specific zone's problem. Again, imho, it has to do with the save system and not with any part of the map.

Take into account that lacking a manual save system, the game depends on interval saves each X time, which i believe it's 5 minutes. It's a short period, but if something goes wrong saving and game does not tell you so and has to rely on the last backup (and from what i have seen, the backup is just the last save from 5 minutes ago) it's very possible that you can lose progress. I think they have implemented a message to give feedback to the player that the game could not be saved, but that does not solve the issue.

All of that apart from the game probably not properly saving all the altars as protected terrain on quit and so regenerating some terrain on top of our altars/bases after we load the next session.

Frankly, imo the first thing they should do ASAP is to implement manual saving (with more than 1 slot, of course) and keep those separated from the automatic saves so if something happens, at least we will still have the manual save. This will also ease the sometimes very frustrating deaths we have because controls, glide opening at a bad time when jumping, etc given that the only fast travel points we have are, precisely and apart from the Spires of each region, our altars and that sometimes we have to walk a lot to try to retreive the loot (and if it's on some of those red lava deadly spots, it's even worse)

Can confirm my second base disappeared too. Spent an 1.5 building it up, logged back in today and it's gone. Was right next to the Farmer Vault (West).

Gone or invisible? Some of my base is invisible. I can literally walk out on an invisible platform, standing in the middle of the air. So I know it's still there.

Can also confirm that my base at the location between the Ancient Vault - Farmer and Westcott has been eaten. Same exact thing as the others. Single Player. Unfortunately, I had moved every item not in my backpack to this location. So all items and weapons that I've collected this far into the game has disappeared. The flame isn't even there lol
Can also confirm. Build my base two times at the exact spot between farmer vault and Westcott. Over night, after world reset, my whole base got deleted.
