Games Priority setting in task manager is "lower than normal"
Super strange. I wanted to kinda improve performance of the game and set the priority of the process to "high" but it is stuck as "lower than normal" is that on purpose has this some developer programming reason I am not aware of? When I try to change it to high its switching back to "lower than normal" automatically.

Тоже самое,программы тоже не помогают
If you use the in game settings/ display/limit framerate in background. Then yes it will be below Normal when tabbed out. When tabbed back to the game it goes back to Normal priority. If you want to ensure it actually runs at normal priority when checking with task manager just change that setting to Off and it should now say Normal priority. Note i had to restart the game for this to show correctly with task manager.

If you use a program like process explorer you can check priority if you set that program to stay on top. Then check priority which will be 6 for Enshrouded which is below normal. Then hit bring to front and it'll change to priority 8 which is normal priority.

So it's basically working exactly like it should.

Now if for some weird reason it's not working correctly it's not the game's fault it's something on your end. You can download processlasso and force it to whatever priority you want. Can set it up to load at start of puter and save settings for enshrouded and it will set whatever priority, cpus, whatever you set. So only need to set it once and every time the game loads processlasso will do it's thing automatically. Great program and it's free btw.

first thing you said is actually not true because turning the setting off is not changing anything.
Did you read where i said i had to restart the game? And again i said if for some weird reason blah blah use processlasso to control cpu priority.

We don't all have the same OS and hardware and that program quite a few people actually have to use to get cpu priority to work correctly. It shouldn't be needed. But we all know how windows works. So sadly it is required for some. Do note with processlasso you can set enshrouded or whatever to whatever priority you want. So set it to high if you like and save it and it'll use high every time you launch the game.
There may be an easier way but you can also try adding cpu priority in the registry.

Computer\HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Image File Execution Options\

select this Image File Execution Options folder right click new key and name it enshrouded.exe

select this new enshrouded.exe folder and right click new key and name it PerfOptions

In this new PerfOptions folder add new 32 bit dword value CpuPriorityClass
set this to 3

Now when you launch enshrouded it will launch at priority level 13 aka High. Do note that you can't use the in game settings to limit framerate in background as it's on the fly and will change to it normal and below normal. If you change it from On to Off you need to restart the game for High to take effect.

I do wish the game used a slightly higher default priority. I like 10 Above Normal myself. Maybe they can change it to this setting. But even cyberpunk2077 just uses Normal priority. So i dunno dude.

Cab also just copy past the below script and save as enshrouded.reg and run it.

Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00 [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Image File Execution Options/enshrouded.exe/PerfOptions] "CPUPriorityClass"=dword:00000003
In case making folders is to hard. This will do it and set the value.

I've been using Process Lasso for ages and it's one of my most important tools.
I simply created a rule that sets the priority of everything under certain directories and some things within these directories to high.

Before Process Lasso, I had other programs that set priorities automatically, even with Windows 7.
I agree it's an awesome tool. I stopped using it though once i finally got my cpu/motherboard/bios/software etc etc figured out. Took a while to get my I5 13600kf system working correctly. I liked the ability to set programs to only use say 6 efficiency cores for example. The control for individual programs is fantastic. So many options you can save and forget and it'll do whatever you saved. For a free tool outstanding.

Thanks for the tip. At that moment when I wrote my initial post I knew already how to permanently put the priority in a certain state. My post was no question how to change it permanently. my question was: why this is. Its just strange to observe this but you know what I found out? in "graphics settings" of windows it was set that the game was managed by a decision of windows. Changing this to the graphicscard manually change this behavior. so it seems like it was a weird windows issue that I didn't have with any other game before. Not all my games are properly set up in "graphics settings" option in windows and they don't behave that way. Its just weird.

And to answer your question if I have restart the game for the performance decrease when tabbed out option. Yes of course I did and it didn't make any difference.
I do find fault that on my system WIn 11 24H2 does not automatically add enshrouded to "graphics" so how is windows handling enshrouded? What is the default settings? I just added it manually and it shows as Optimizations for windowed games=ON and GPU preference High Performance RTX 4080 with default being let windows decide high perf. I don't like windows deciding things so not using the default setting even if it's correct atm. Windows is just weird. Glad you got it sorted.
