What happens if i decide to move my base?

If it is level 2 and i delete it to move my base, when i place it again will it still be level 2 or do i lose that soul i used to upgrade it?

Unfortunately I just moved my level 2 altar and it went back to level 1. So to answer your question, it will reset the altar if you move it

Flame (world upgrade) level stays the same, but each base has to start the build area upgrade from scratch.

If you extinguish your flame for whatever reason, everything in the hearth area goes bye bye. You can have multiple bases, for example having 4 bases at flame level 3. There is no need to pick up and move a base short of having a spare flame well to put down as a fast travel point.

does anyone know, when moving the base flame, does it only destroy the building parts or would it also destroy chests with items in them?

Everything resets so chests and their contents will also disappear.
