What's up with people complaining about server/client progression?
Was looking at this game as it's the kind of thing I would play with friends, but a lot of reviews mention how progression is on the server - that kinda sounds like Terraria? (as do a lot of the comparisons i've seen to gameplay). It's no problem in that game why is there an expectation that it should be different here? Does marketing suggest otherwise? I don't really see the problem, you either play with people who play when you play or you don't. Terraria had/has amazing progression, so if this is anything like it that's a selling point for me.

This isnt Terraria so yeah ?
Server progression kinda sucks if multiple people play on a server and they play at different progression rates.

It also really sucks to load into a game and have all chests being looted :)

Should have client progression aswell as personal loot.

I feel like this will be the kind of game where you maintain your own private game for progression/sense of satisfaction and a separate character/game for goofing online with buddies. That way you don't feel like your being robbed of anything in terms of gameplay.

Doesnt have to be that way. Just make an option to change progression to client side(otherwise mods will fix it)

I didn't mean to invite toxicity here, let's all be nice - I think I just see this as the difference between people expecting mmo-like gameplay where players can do their own things, versus persistent-world style, where everyone is affected by everyone else. It certainly sound like chests/rewards need to be worked on though.

this isnt really an answer to the scenario because i agree in some ways, but chests do respawn and change their loot. i dont know this about anything but the brown and silver chests ive found, i havent been to the well thing as of yet im taking my time playing with building.

People are trying to play a cooperative team pve game without the cooperative part. Me and the people I play with just share loot that goes with our chosen build and the materials get loaded into chests at the base to make stuff as we need it. Sharing is caring :D

How many are yo uthat play together? How do you communicate to people where you have been to loot stuff? Assuming you dont just loot 1 place per hour and write it in a chat.

But we share our loot just fine? Thats not the issue at all. The issue is going around to find allready looted buildings that only respawn on server restart. There is no way to share data ingame of where you have been to loot meaning you either have to play at the same time always while communicating very effectively in chat or voice where you have been or you need to have it documented outside the game. Its not a very good way of doing this. If its meant as an actual "lets go through this game together as 2-4 people at the same time" game like... idk. Bg3? Then its surely being advertised wrongly.

Not trying to be rude, bu is it too much of an issue to say "Hey guys I'm heading over to X to explore, has anyone been there yet?" And if they have, cool, ask what was found, if not, off you go.

It's all about working together, even as a larger group. I think that's why you only get to put down two shrines initially.

Thats exactly what i am telling you. We dont all play at the same time. We are 8 people(the game was advertised as up to 16 people per server).

This is basically a single player game that you can play co-op. unsure why we have dedicated servers as people playing without you can lock you out of quests/rewards completely.

I like it because it does split char and server progression. It was told to be like this. It was like this in the demo. And now it is still like this.
If people don't like such games they simply should not play them. There are enough games that do not split. :D It's the same like the pvp thing. You want pvp? Not your game then.

Dedi does exist so it does not depend on one user being online.

It was advertised as play together co-op. And it is.

The easy way to solve this is for the Devs just to add in an Op to the server files for loot/chests to respawn loot or not.
Job done... play the game and your server the way you like... no drama needed. ;)
