So no matter how many FPS you get, the game will feel choppy.
Some cap the games FPS to 60 to ensure it runs smooth. I managed to 'unlock' my screen to run at full hz.
It's likely an issue with the game running in borderless window mode.
I tried a lot of stuff and can't fully say what solved it and if it is applicable the same way. Nor if some other custom setting I have in my driver is affecting it.
I made a post about it an hour ago. For me what helped was ensuring the my screen was locked to 144hz before starting the game. Vsync disabled, G-sync disabled.
Then when I got smooth 144hz in game I enabled G-Sync again and now the game is running at >100 FPS with the screen applying G-Sync properly dynamically adjusting the refresh rate.
It's not that, even 60 doesn't feel like 60.
The crazy part, in the character creation in the main menu, that's where it is BUTTERY smooth 120fps, no problems, no weird camera stuttering, nothing. If you turn the camera there, it is how it should be.
I think even in the inventory ingame it's smooth, just the game itself feels super stuttery no matter what FPS you get. It's so weird.
I've seen a lot of people talking about that when the demo was around.
1. Close game
2 disable gsync
2. set monitor refresh rate to 60
2. enable gsync
3. set monitor refresh rate to 60 again
4. Start game
5. turn on vsync in game
The game now runs smoothly (albeit at 60fps). You can probably achieve this in less steps but that's exactly what I did after reading through this post.
I mean .. sure, if 60 FPS (Hz) is fine for your eyes, then it's good but I've been using 144Hz monitors for many years and I can't say that 60 FPS (Hz) is smooth for any eyes tbh.
I've been using a 165hz monitor for years mate, this is a potential workaround for those wanting to play the game minus stuttering/fps drops on machines capable of hitting decent frame rates. I capped the fps initially (workaround provided by devs) and although my in game frames stated 60, they were evidently lower (that's the issue). I instead applied the above fix and the game is at least playable now
I want to confirm for my setup the 7800XT AMD Graphics with latest drivers, and 5GHz I9 1100K with 32GB Ram and 16GB Video RAM...that indeed this fix works to alleviate what appears to be most of the "uncomfortability" of the camera/turning...I did exactly as described but enabled AMD Freesync Premium instead of GSYNC...and indeed the game "feels" more correct, yes it's now cap'd at 60 FPS, but it don't have that "off" feeling that something is just wrong with the framerate. Until an official fix is released, this is as good as it's going to get I suppose.
