Wheres save file location ?
??

For local save files:
C:\Users\%username%\Saved Games\Enshrouded
For cloud save files:
C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\userdata\ YourSteamID \1203620\remote
...Where YourSteamID is your unique Steam ID number

Ofc if you use drive D instead of C or another location instead of Program Files (x86) for your Steam installation you will have to change those bits.

triple88a's answer worked for me, I successfully sent my solo map to a friend so he could play when i'm not here .

But for the map to appear in his game he also had to modify the remotecache.vdf to add the parts related to the map he had copied
(it's just a text file that you can open with notepad)

Just to add slightly to the confusion here, mine are in my Documents folder under "Saved Games\Enshrouded". Since I've remapped my documents to a non-standard location, this is not anywhere on my C drive. The folder for C:\Users\<profilename>\Saved Games exists for me but there's no Enshrouded anything in there, only a very old game which hard codes that path.

Edited to be more clear: The folder Documents\Saved Games\Enshrouded also has only the enshroued_user.json file. My actual save files (Only played single player so far) are in Steam\userdata\<number>\1203620\remote just to be clear. I point out the extra folder only because that lack can cause confusion and this thread is the first result for me in Google at the moment so clarity is likely important for others.

Again - there are two savefile locations. Which one you have is depending if you are using cloud save or not.
triple88a very good explaination, thanks. I have a problem since the patch, Enshrouded is not updating (did veryfy integrity - uninstall re install the game... and still stuck with the old version. Any idea ? Is there a way to force update ?

Clear your Steam download cache, then completely close out Steam. After a reboot and starting Steam, that should refresh the data so Seam sees the patch.

Also not at all related to this topic. Not sure why you didn't just start your own thread.
the reason is because I was trying to save my character data before completely removing Enshrouded and re installing it... but I will try your option thanks
didn't work though

Let me jump in here and explain.
Also don't blame me if you accidentally delete your save. Back it up.
By default Enshrouded does cloud save.

The CLOUD save game location is in
Steam\userdata\YOURSTEAMID\1203620\remote
You will see a file called "characters". This is your character data (character inventory etc)
You will also see stuff like 3ad85ge7d
The 3whatever is your world data. The issue is these files are uploaded to the cloud so once you launch the game, your pc will load your save from the steam cloud and overwrite them.

If you want to switch your game to use LOCAL save, the local save directory is located in
C:\Users\USERID\Saved Games\Enshrouded

By default you'll only find a json file there but if you disable cloud save then all the character and worlds will get sent to that location.

To disable cloud save, In the steam library go to enshrouded, right click it, go to properties, disable "Steam Cloud" in general tab.

Start the game and you'll see your saves are gone. Close the game.
Go to Steam\userdata\YOURSTEAMID\1203620\remote, copy the 3adwhatever and the character files from Steam\userdata\YOURSTEAMID\1203620\remote to C:\Users\USERID\Saved Games\Enshrouded and start the game again. Now your characters and worlds should be there

THIS THANK YOU
You must turn off cloud saves under properties. Then it will appear in save games.

lol dude... empty path
Go to the store page of ANY game. Look at the URL where it says, /app/"Number"/. That number will be the same as the folder your save files are stored. Just go into where you installed Steam and open the userdata folder. Then just look for a folder with that same number as the number that shows up on the URL.

So many pages full of that incorrect information to find this finally. Thank you.

For those arriving late: This is the correct file you are trying to find to transfer your LOCAL PRIVATE save to a remote host or where you would want to put those files, if you were copying the world to your local private... anyhow hopefully I've said Local Private enough times for your search to get here quicker than mine did.

I guess the issue I have now is I have world on a dedicated server... I have downloaded all the files via a ftp client and have on my desktop... What I want to do is delete the server but keep playing the same world on my computer privately... I have 2 other worlds locally that I want to keep, world 1 and world 2... but I want to download the server world and add it ... so then I have world 3... does that make sense... all above doesn't really address that...
