Ofc if you use drive D instead of C or another location instead of Program Files (x86) for your Steam installation you will have to change those bits.

Only file in that folder for me is a "enshrouded_user.json"
That do not look like the save file, its a configure file for the game settings only...

no. If you play localy the saves are there. I have like 10 files there. The settings file is in the game directory ->Steamapps\common\Enshrouded\

No its not - those are just settings.
Savegame file is in your STEAM folder under:

..Steam\userdata\YOURSTEAMID\1203620\remote

1203620 is the steamapp id for Enshrouded.

There are 3 files:

3ad85aea
3ad85aea_info
characters

This is your savegame.
